About TompsonX

Me Hey there! I’m Pedro, but online I go by TompsonX. I used to run The Adventurer’s Guild, a D&D 5e community server with over 5,000 sessions played, and I’ve been a professional DM for over 8 years. I currently run two active campaigns, but I’m almost always looking for players in the GMT 18:30–23:00 time slot. My games focus on roleplay and meaningful combat, usually running about 3 hours per session. I like to offer a free trial session so you can see if our styles click before committing. If your schedule doesn’t match my regular campaigns, I’m also available for private or custom sessions—these are a bit more expensive, but perfect if you want to play at a different time. My goal is simple: to make each game fun, challenging, and memorable, while letting your characters shine and shape the story along the way.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Playing a lot of videogames and taking care of my dogs! I have two dogs, Magnus and Nina, they are around the 7 year old mark at this point and I love them dearly Other than that videogames are my primary hobby. Few notables: Fallout 3 Runescape Dark Souls series Last Epoch / Diablo / PoE Division 2

I became a GM because

I had an insatiable craving for more D&D in my life and I didn't wanna try to beg DMs to let me into their games. Learning DMing was fun and very rewarding and eventually it turned into my job later on!

I got started GMing...

around 8 years ago after I played my first ever run of the 5e starter set and fell in love with the hobby. Once that campaign died out I realized just how many campaigns suffer the same fate and decided to do things differently to avoid such outcomes and joined forces with other like minded people.

How TompsonX runs games

I enjoy running pre-written modules as a foundation, while giving players the freedom to shape the story through their choices. Roleplay is the heart of my games, and I prefer meaningful interactions and combat that serves the story rather than fighting for the sake of fighting. My style isn’t about full immersion or strict realism. Instead, I aim to capture the fun of friends around a table, sharing a story together. There will be jokes, out-of-character comments, and plenty of lighthearted moments—but when it counts, we come together for impactful roleplay and memorable storytelling.

Rules are...

Rules are the boundaries that define a system. I believe in following the rules in combat decently strictly, for that is the most curated part of most TTRPGs, specially D&D 5e and PF2E. In exploration and roleplay however, bending them slightly is awesome and makes for great experiences, try it out!

My games focus on...

My main focus is about DECISION MAKING. I think it's the most important factor in a TTRPG.Choosing when to have combat, when not to, who to allign yourselves with, and even where to spend your resources, be it money, or souls. Who to work with, who to backstab, I believe this is what makes TTRPGs

I deal with rules issues by...

Looking it up! If it's something quick and we can find an answer, take the answer into effect immediately, if it's something less quick or that requires a ruling, usually just rule player sided and check later on. Make adjustments with the group if required.

TompsonX's ideal table

One of my first paid players described my table as: "Less of a full immersive experience and more like a group of friends around the table with tacos and beers." I loved that description and try to keep that vibe in my games. My focus is on unique NPCs, cohesive storytelling, and meaningful roleplay, rather than full immersion or overly descriptive narration. We balance lighthearted fun and serious gameplay. There will be jokes and out-of-character comments, but everyone treats the story and their characters seriously when it matters. Players are encouraged to engage with the plot and move things forward, while still enjoying the camaraderie of the table. The result is a familiar, comfortable, and enjoyable environment—fun, dynamic, and story-driven, without losing focus on impactful moments.

My table is not the place for...

Murderhoboing and random crime are not fun or engaging as a story mechanic or gameplay mechanic and overall just result in a PVP style system where the DM tries to put the players crime spree to an end, which results in a lot of out of character arguing. Usually takes a long time as well for no gain

I love it when a player

is also a dungeon master. I generally have had really good experience with players that play on both sides of the table. I also really like notetakers and people who stick to their character choices even if they usually end up being detrimental to themselves. I really like people who are motivated.

I think metagaming...

is not always bad. I think metagaming is something that should be embraced as a tool for expedience many times and enriches the story for experienced players. Example: By making a character from Icewind Dale and knowing about it OOC you can enrich the roleplay for the whole group by mentioning it.
