About the adventure

Welcome to the world of Jacale Murlan. Two main continents and many scattered islands inhabit the world. Klavek has three main countries: Klavek, Edrassa and Temple of Light. Klavek, the country, is at war with those from the other large continent, Vikdomere. Your party is one of adventurers and heroes who have accepted Klavek's call for aid to go to the land of their ancient enemy, the Vikdomere, where they have been able to covertly establish a foothold on a small peninsula. Due to the nature of mission, details are very limited, and you will be given specifics when you land. Upon entering the port city from where you will head out across the waters, there is a large commotion. A horribly mutated local has come upon the shore, and from the murmurs you hear from those standing around, he isn't the first. Many have diappeared. The mayor has put up a reward for resolution to this issue, and your boat captain is questioning the safety of heading out until after this issue is fixed. Upon comleting the quest, the party will learn that there is more to what is happenning and are asked to help more. The campaign can have multiple possible adventure paths, and it is up to the players what they do and where they go and how they influence what is happening in their home land and try to stop the growing dangers. The campaign starts with players at level 1 and has the potential of reaching level 20, or beyond.

About me

My name is Anthony, and I LOVE being a GM. The first actual game that I was a part of was me trying to use the strategy guide for Final Fantasy Origins, the first game as Origins had 1 and 2, and convert it somewhat into a tabletop campiagn with my own spin on it. It actually went surprisingly well. I then did the same thing with Final Fantasy Tactics, which was more focused on placement and tactical combat. That turned out pretty good as well. Then some friends of mine, the ones who played my FF1 campaign, had me be a player for a 4e one shot. It was interesting, but it was odd to be on that side of the game. Then I tried to run a short adventure for 5e, as it was newer, and I haven't looked back since. The sheer enjoyment of being able to come up with things on the fly and react to whatever shenanganery that the players get into is exhilarating. The way I run my campaigns is mostly sandbox. I use a mix of 3rd party content, which I usually change up quite a bit to fit with the world better, and homebrew. There's some official content beyond SRD, but it is a small amount. Each campaign has a starting point at a different area in the world, and you get multiple hooks at the end for you to decide what you want to do and where you want to go. There are multiple adventure paths and sides to take and enemies to take down, but which you find and how you approach them are up to you and your decisions that can have small impacts or campaign spanning and changing consequences, be they good or bad.

I have enjoyed playing with this GM; games are challenging but possible. Character choices and subclasses are varied and interesting, and I have never seen many different aspects of them before. All making for a better gaming experience. If I had more time, I would join other games.

Anthony helped me get my feet wet in DND. All the rules were explained in a way it was easy to understand. He gives the players a chance to do what they want, within reason. Even if it's killing something with a sweet roll.

I can’t say enough about how fantastic the game play goes. Everything from the storyline, how clearly the pre-session covers what you need to know to be a player, engaging voices and personalities in the NPCs, and feeling heard as a player character.

Anthony is an absolutely amazing Dungeon Master! His storytelling is top-notch, and he really knows how to make the world feel alive and exciting. The sessions are always a perfect mix of fun, challenging, and super creative. One of the best things about playing with Anthony is how he makes everyone feel included and important. Whether you're a newbie or a seasoned player, he tailors the game so it’s engaging for everyone If you’re looking for a DM who’s organized, fun, and genuinely passionate about the game, Anthony is the one. I’ve had such a blast in his campaign and can’t wait for the next session!

I had an absolute blast my first session with DM Anthony. He’s very helpful and has created an incredible, vibrant world which I look forward to exploring. Our playtime was well balanced and well-paced and I was sad to see our first session end. If you want a quality DM and great world setting, check out one of DM Anthony’s campaigns. I highly recommend.

Character creation
Creating your character

Character creation will be part of Session 0. Only content that I have on my VTT is allowed, and only some of it depending on setting and areas of the campaign. For instance, you don't have access to Star Wars races or classes for a non-Star Wars campaign, and you can't be a Pokemon Trainer for a standard campaign either, even though I have that content. Players start at level 1 unless you are joining after the camapign has alrady started and the group has leveled. You will be using an upgraded array of 17, 15, 13, 12, 10, 8. You will be making them on www.shardtabletop.com, which is the VTT I am using for the campaign. You will have access to my content that consists of some SRD, some bought 3rd party content, as well as a lot of content I have personally added.

The current party

This is a streamed campaign on twitch. We do not use video at this time and use the token pictures of the PCs. As of this update, the party is 13 sessions in. Party level is 3 and party composition is: Goblin Rogue Deep Dwarf Cleric Forest Gnome Cleric Tabaxi Paladin Corgyn Psion They just got done letting a BBEG escape while being illusioned to look like a captured girl they were looking for. He, looking like the girl, escaped while the party was fighting some fish people. They are now about to head back to the port city to report. They got an artifact that had opened a portal to another plane that was causing mutations and death to any who got close. Two of the party are currently mutated.

What to expect
Preparing for the session

You will need a Shard account. They are free. They do have paid subscription options, but they are not required to participate in a campaign. You will need a Discord account as that is the application used for voice for the campaign. You will need a mic as voice is used for the campaign. You may also use a webcam if you like, but it isn't required. You will not need dice as it is an online campaign, and the VTT I use, Shard, has a built-in dice roller. Character creation will be done during session 0 after you have gotten a link to the campaign. If you would like to practice making a character using Shard on a free account, that is up to you. However, the options are somewhat limited, and you will not have access to my content for character creation unless you go through an invite link to the campaign.

What DVDM brings to the table

I will be bringing my VTT and all of my content that is on it, which I am consistently expanding on. I do do some voice acting for NPCs. I am not professionally trained, but it is better than not doing them at all. I use a mix of Theatre of the Mind and Battle Maps, but almost the entirety of combat is done on Battle Maps. Theatre of the Mind is mostly reserved for out-of-combat RP and such. I'm working on the music side of it, but I'l a ways away from that, still. Combat can be highly tactical, but I base that on the group as a whole. I love running highly intesnse, and sometimes large scale battles with multiple possible success and failure states, but not all groups would work well with that. As far as RAW, RAI and Rule of Cool, a lot of that will be gone over in session 0.

Safety
How DVDM creates a safe table

I will go over the Safety Tool and Content Warnings during Session 0. X, N and O cards are on the VTT chat. Character creation will also happen during Session 0. Different groups have different needs and desires, so going through them during Session 0 can put the campaign on the correct path for each player.
