About Tired DM

Looking to spend some time expanding my horizon beyond D&D. I've been playing for 15+ years at this point between friends local and online and while I do love D&D I've taken a keen interest in newer systems that I'd love to try and run for people. I practice alot of theater of the mind but can do maps and more depending on what the players want. Systems I'm looking to run: Ironsworn Starforged, Blades in the Dark, Dusk City Outlaws (On Tabletop Sim or other places if they don't have it, I just helped make the Tabletop Sim module haha), Mothership, Fabula Ultima, Wildsea, and a few other fun Indie Systems I have (Just ask ♥).

I got started GMing...

Back in highschool. My father introduced me to D&D and gave me his old gear, I used it to host partiest at my house of 5-10 people doing random scribbled out dungeons on an erase mat and creating custom classes, races, and professions! Had a Barbarian cobbler who specialized in thrown boot combat

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

Dusk City Outlaws (And its permutations) - Can't go wrong with a good heist game! Sci-fi or fantasy! Fabula Ultima - Classic JRPGs brought to TTRPG, gotta love it Mothership - We are on a desert island, its already a little spooky, it'll help sell that stranded in isolated space feel

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Encourages my Freedom - I like to create sandboxes and allow my players as much freedom of experience as I can. While yes there are things that are impossible, I will always respect the desire to tell a fun story and for the impossible to become possible with the right price and dice.

How Tired DM runs games

My GM style is very much rule of cool. The rule book is often just an outline that is used to tell a fun story with the system setting to work in our favor unless explicitly stated otherwise (Like in Kingdom Death Monster, where the goal is for the rules to make the life of the players harder). Things I enjoy: World Building, Story Telling, Roleplay at the table Things I'll do if asked or feel the need: Sketched Maps, Detailed Battle Maps

I once ran a session...

Where two of my very goofy characters received a letter about their adoptive father getting ill. The table was shocked to see the way these goofballs changed speed and by the end of the session were all crying. It is my ABSOLUTE favorite moment in TTRPGs, and is listed as in their top 5s ♥

My games focus on...

Story, Exploration, and to my best ability atleast - creating a fun narrative that people can get invested in and chase their own ideas. The last thing I want to do is set someone in a sandbox and tell them they can only use the corner.

Rules are...

there to give bones to a system and create fun situations but are thankfully flexible because some times the ultimate rule, the RULE OF COOL!! Shines through creating a more fun and enjoyable story.

Tired DM's ideal table

Table style is something that changes based on the players! My ideal table is people who are engaged without being overwhelming (Talking over others) and like to have fun but understand there are moments where people need to be serious for the story. I do tend to run alot of Theater of the Mind because there are situations where burnout has punished me for creating too much and it never gets used or so on, so hope that is OK.

I love it when a player

gets into their position at the table. Yes you are a player, but you are also part of the story telling! You have ideas, who help wrangle players, and most importantly you seek to enhance the experience for yourself and others!

I think min/maxing...

Is fine so long as people are not doing it to step on the toes of other people. There is fun in creating a very skilled character and having them be excellent at the thing you made them for.

My table is not the place for...

Disinterested robots who are there to roll dice and have someone exposition at them. If you don't give, I can't return. While there are some dungeon masters out there that will talk for hours without any input. This is collaborative for me and more fun to see how my expectations are subverted.
