About The Mad DM

Hi! Here I believe in a player-oriented approach to tabletop gaming. We're here to bring your stories to the forefront of the adventures I may not have been involved with D&D for very long but I instantly fell in love with the game. Whenever DMing I like to give players freedom of choice, whether that be creating multiple opportunities of what to do next or how their character advances, there is no set way to achieve something in this game which is part of what makes it amazing! As a DM I like to work with my players to get the most out of their character and their backstory so that everyone is having fun at the table and is taking part in the telling of the story.

because I like to come up with cool homebrew ideas that players can use

How The Mad DM runs games

I like to run my games with a good amount of RP and combat, they won't always be in a session together but that just depends on how things go at the end of the day. I like to work with my players on their backstory and how I can implement it into the story. I especially love working with deities or their devilish counterparts to empower my players further. I like to come up with fun ideas and make a fair amount of homebrew content to include for players, so if you have an idea, I'll definitely be open to listening so that we can try to make something that works. I find the best part about being a DM is watching player reactions to a curveball they didn't see coming or them understanding something that has been foreshadowed and what that might mean for them or the party.

My games focus on...

Telling a collective story with the party and having as much fun as possible while doing it! I like to do this by using the rule of cool as well as some homebrew rules and homebrew content I make for my players

The Mad DM's ideal table

I like to typically have a few minutes chatting about life in general before starting the session, how the week has gone etc. We don't need to know your deepest secrets, the goal is is purely to develop some human connection, so that we are no longer playing with random people we've met online, but with some new friends who make your day more fun. People who love to interact with the NPCs with words instead of swords fit my table better. There will be plenty of action and fights, but I also include scenes that are better suited for roleplay. Sometimes a session can be filled with roleplay alone.

I love it when a player

Comes up with a random cool idea on how to overcome an obstacle, especially when its one I didn't think of myself.

My table is not the place for...

Players that want to PVP with other players. Players that want to force their way through something, sometimes getting through something quickly does not help you get the information you need.
