About Asa / Yeti
Hi! My name is Asa, but you can call me Yeti if you'd prefer! I'm interested in hosting TTRPG sessions because I've been passionate about the hobby since I first began it over a decade ago, and I'm always looking to meet new people and experience new voices in collaborative storytelling! As for my credentials, I'm a Dungeon Master with 10+ years of experience in the TTRPG space, and have both played and DM'd in multiple systems, including Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (2014), Numenera Destiny & Discovery, Monster of the Week, Glitter Hearts, and Pathfinder 1st Edition. I pride myself on my ability to make memorable characters and my adaptability in storytelling. Nearly every campaign I've run has been set in custom/homebrew worlds, and I'm a huge proponent of Interactive Worldbuilding; when you have an idea, I make a concerted effort to make it work in the setting and to make sense within the world's logic. All that to say, when you book sessions with me, you're booking for my improvisational skills, storytelling ability, and my abilities to weave new concepts into existing frameworks and established lore.

My favorite books are
"The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfuss and "Children of Blood and Bone" by Tomi Adeyemi. Tomi Adeyemi's breakout book is the first thing I recommend to people who are looking for a fresh take on fantasy and a departure from the Euro-centric perspective in the genre.
My favorite shows/movies are
The ALIEN series, especially the first movie; DROPOUT shows like Very Important People, Game Changer, and Smartypants; nature docuseries like Blue Planet; and both drama and comedy anime.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Playing video games from Dark Souls to Warframe to Fields of Mistria; watching all sorts of anime - the good, the bad, the trash, the classics; trying to keep the peace between my two ornery cats; and playing in other people's D&D campaigns!
How Asa / Yeti runs games
My style is story-first. What I believe is most fun and most engaging for players is having a story that we can all get absorbed into; Player Characters and NPCs are people, monsters are trying to survive, the world moves even when the players' backs are turned, and the dice offer guidance on how to mold the story through the overarching narrative. Roleplay is a core tenet of Tabletop Roleplaying Games, and I value it very highly - but I also understand that not everyone is comfortable with it, so I actively encourage and try to foster confidence and comfort in my players; my table is a safe space for you to come out of your shell and really enter your character's perspective. My goal is to let you forget there's a world outside of the game, be it in combat, exploration, roleplay, even shopping sessions. I make use of Player Safety tools, and establish content boundaries in the Session 0 while we talk about what to expect out of a campaign at my table. Making sure players are comfortable and can expect a consistent tone is important to getting the best experience out of a TTRPG, and I always strive to achieve that.

My games focus on...
Player Characters and how they both influence and are influenced by the world around them. A good story can stretch across a vast landscape or be localized entirely within one town, and it's up to the Player Characters to determine how it plays out.
Rules are...
Tools for achieving the story that we will collectively tell with our campaign. Rules can be bent, and even sometimes broken, as long as the result is more compelling than worrying about strict adherence to them or "realism."
