About Cecil Castillo
6 years of DMing 5E, and monster of the week. I've played TTRPGs on and off for the better part of twenty years. I'm a 29y/o Trans male form NYstate, I have two dogs, a cat and live with fairly active Lupus. I enjoy a good video game and enjoy hanging out with friends, reading a good book, Crocheting and writing.

I became a GM because
I wanted to tell a story with my friends. I wanted to share a world I had been building but wasn't sure how to put it into a book. My older brother who had DMd for me when we were younger told me to start a table. Five and a half years and one global lockdown, and I'm here.
My favorite books are
Fantasy, Historical, Post Apocalyptic, Mystery, a good romance book too. Eon(a), Treasure Island, The Thrawn trilogy, and many others.
People are always surprised when I tell them
I'm a meteorologist, and Cartographer. I have my own craft business and am half as funny as the average person, (I'm missing my funny bone in my left arm,)
How Cecil Castillo runs games
The rule of cool is the only rule, (Within reason) I'm a super chill DM, I am always down for homebrew and love when my players have fun ideas. I try and work with players to give everyone a fun and equal time I don't play favorites and I don't take shit. while a chill and fair DM, I don't take BS and know when to be fair and even.
Cecil Castillo's ideal table
I'm a fairly chill DM. I live by the Rule of Cool, as long as it's reasonable of course. I do believe that some rules need to be followed for the safety and fun of my players. I encourage fun and chaos as long as everyone is being respected. I may be the narrator, but this is your story.

I love it when a player
Brings to me a character they are excited about, ideas for their characters future but with enough wiggle room for me to help lead the character through their arc without the player being aware of every step.
I think it's a red flag when players...
Are too rigid. If you can't laugh at yourself you're not going to have fun. Natural 1s or failures are going to happen. You're going to fail, you're not Batman, your player isn't Batman, even Batman fails. If you can't fail, how is your character going to grow? YOUR CHARACTER IS NEVER FINISHED.
I think metagaming...
Is a hindrance to the game. I understand it happens sometimes, but were here for the game, were here to get away from reality for a few hours and to experience a different world. Metagaming not only puts your party at an unfair disadvantage, it hinders the experience of the world.
