About Chris
Hi I'm Chris with TableTop GMs. Tabletop role playing games have been part of my life for over 20 years now. I find it has been a great adventure to meet so many different people and make good friends. Finding a GM to run games always seems to be a challenge, but with my love of lore and storytelling, I naturally became a GM for most of my time playing TTRPGs. Most of my games run under D&D 5e, but I enjoy trying new systems as well. In the past I have ran games for FFG Star Wars, Coyote & Crow, BREAK!!, and others. I have been using VTTs for over 10 years now. While mainly using Roll20, I have also used Fantasy Grounds and Foundry. Some of my favorite GM experiences are running beginner games at conventions, as well as Adventurer League game modules for more advanced players. In particular, one highlight was running a table for a D&D Epic Adventure (DDEP). My favorite accomplishment from GMing was completing the Season 7: Tomb of Annihilation DM's checklist. In order to complete it, I had to run a 24 hour marathon of game modules. While most of my time is spent running modules or campaign books, I have participated in a few Westmarches and ran some personally created games.

How Chris runs games
I view TTRPG as group storytelling. Roleplay is really what we're signing up for by joining a table. Players should have as much agency as possible. Depending on the game type, I handle roleplaying and combat to fit the situation. For one shot games, the focus is on completing the session, which at times may require speeding up roleplay or combat. In longer campaigns, the pace is really set by the story needs and player desires. This can allow for much more roleplaying time. Typically, I try to follow rules as written to make it easier for everyone. However, at times, I may adjust a ruling to ensure fun and player agency.

Rules are...
guidelines. While I tend to keep rules as written, the rule of cool at times takes precedence. Games should be fun.

I love it when a player
really flushes out their character's personality and shows it through decisions and role playing. Also taking on characters that can be challenging to play.
I think min/maxing...
isn't for every game. Role playing is focused on story and shouldn't be a min/max event. Min/maxing with a deep story behind it to make the connections can be interesting.
