About Sooch
I'm a queer writer and amateur rodeo athlete who works in nonprofit communications. I grew up in the US Rocky Mountains, but I'm now living in Brazil with my partner and our handsome cat. I've been playing D&D for about 3 years now, GMing for 1, and I'd be thrilled to be at the table with you!

I became a GM because
I saw how often other players need a GM! It's been so much fun to help fill that gap.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Rodeoing, hiking, or kayaking if I'm in the US. If I'm in Brazil, I'm walking the city or writing poetry.
How Sooch runs games
I bring immersive, roleplay-forward, play-by-post games with a strong focus on characters and collaboration. I aim for cinematic storytelling where players have room to shape the narrative through their choices and interactions. You can expect encounters with stakes, but also plenty of opportunities for roleplay, exploration, and clever approaches. I want your characters to be able to grow into the heroes they dream about! I'm a regular poster who's chronically online, so you'll have plenty to interact with! My games are a safe, inclusive space where we can all relax and get out of the real world for a bit, so racism, sexism, ageism, ableism, homophobia, and transphobia will not be tolerated at our tables.

I once ran a session...
Impromptu at a hotel breakfast!
I prep by
Reading, writing, rewriting, re-rewriting, and working to build in things I think my players will enjoy most!
Rules are...
Important as a framework for consistency, but flexible as long as the group agrees. Also a good reference point when questions arise.
Sooch's ideal table
My tables are a safe and inclusive space where mature communication thrives. Overall, my goal is to create a game that feels immersive, character-driven, and shared, where players can invest in the world and each other. Every campaign will include a discussion about player lines and veils to establish game boundaries before we begin. Gameplay is asynchronous, so post whenever you're available!

I love it when a player
1: Isn't afraid to explore! Touch the books, open the chest, look behind the waterfall. You never know what goodies you'll find! 2: Owns the low rolls as much as the high ones. Some of the most memorable campaign moments I've ever seen have come when someone rolls below a 9.
I think metagaming...
Is lame, outside of above-table discussions. Characters can't read the module, and it's a bit of a bummer for others when one character knows every exploit because of player knowledge. I think the story is more exciting for everyone when characters are played true to their in-world knowledge.
My table is not the place for...
PvP, heavy adversarial play, or ERP. The tables I run are for telling a collaborative story, and I find that it runs best when these are left out. Other tables are totally different, and I fully respect that and want you to have a space for that! This just isn't that table.
