About Caleb Wright

Heyoo, just like with poetry and stories I am adaptive and quick on my feet to changes and challenges. I never like to turn away an idea unless it is aimed to intentionally ruin another players time, their mental health or crossing their triggers. I am always open to feedback because at the end of the day I just want you to enjoy your session. It brings me joy to hear laughter and players wanting to know when we can get together again. Oh and I have of course played baldurs gate 3 extensively lol.

I ran my first game...

For 4 friends in canada. I wanted to promote their disabilities and turn them into empowering characters. I asked them if they were comfortable taking their disability and turning them into something they would love. One guy took his dissociation identity disorder and played 3 different characters

I started running games because...

I enjoy the laughter and happiness that comes from igniting players imaginations, bringing them challenges, and unlocking their hidden talents.

My favorite books are

Rising red, fourth wing, Lord of the rings, wheel of time, the wayward children, art of racing in the rain, the lightning thief, the inheritance games, narnia

How Caleb Wright runs games

I'll twist and bend mechanics of the game in all formats. The narrative, the story, the player experience is the end result. Dramatic deaths that are earned, climax combat with a fulfilling payoff in the heat of the battle, twists and turns to keep you on your toes. And even better yet, interconnecting players characters in fun ways that they would not have imagined unless asked for. The goal is to make sure you want to keep playing, that you need the next page or chapter to turn. Why tell a boring story, why self insert a level 20 DM character? That's not me, I'll adapt to ensure that all the players are enjoying themselves each session and I do check ins afterwards to be sure.

I deal with rules issues by...

Making it a democratic vote from the table. The players may all agree on something that I disagree on, and I want to remain adaptable for my players.

Rules are...

Meant to be served as a guideline for fun but can be expanded on based on the tables needs and consented agreement for changes that they find better serve their gameplay

When it comes to voices

I'm happy to do them, happy to hear them, happy to support people with them because it takes courage to do that and get into character

Caleb Wright's ideal table

There will be a variety of tables. I want to offer training days to help people explore the mechanics of DND. I want a table set for adventure and exploration. I want a table for a one time encounter or one shot. I want a raid boss table for massive crazy mechanical altered combat. And I want a puzzle/mystery table that focuses on logic and analysis of different player types.

I love it when a player

Laughs and has the urge to come back. It shows that they are having fun and that I have built something they can sink into and feel safe in.

I think it's a red flag when players...

Disrespect triggers and boundaries. I give one warning as sometimes it may be accidental, and everyone deserves a chance to try and change. Also if you demand to make the rules, you should be a dungeon master, not a player.

I think metagaming...

Is fine as long as the players understand I too can hear the metagaming when spoken aloud and will immediately adapt for their out of character planning. Additionally very unlikely anyone creature or scene will run exactly as it is printed in any books.
