About Kaz
Hello! My name is Kaz! I use both He/Him and She/Her pronouns! I've been playing D&D since 2017 in the sixth grade! Ever since, I've been a Forever DM, running campaigns for friends and as a part of multiple D&D clubs through highschool and college! I love storytelling and I'm a theatre nerd, so playing D&D is a natural experience for me. I have most of my experience in D&D 5e, but I've dabbled in other formats like Call of Cthulu! Additionally, I'm currently on the Exec Board of my college's TTRPG Club. Off the table, I work in an engineering and design lab at my college, and I love to write, listen to dad rock, and paint miniatures! I'm also learning how to cook better, and I will never turn down an opportunity to act on stage, should one present itself. Additionally, I'm a HUGE nerd about medieval history, and I have a full set of half-plate knight's armor, which I (of course) use for Renaissance Faires. Most of the stories I've written are set in a high fantasy/grimdark world, but I've been expanding as of late into more light hearted adventures. I draw inspiration from the media I engage with, which is mostly video games like Destiny 2 and Warhammer, but I'm always eager to pick up a new book for inspiration.

I got started GMing...
When my friends in sixth grade introduced me to D&D! I was already a writer, so I just adapted a lot of my stories into D&D campaigns.
People are always surprised when I tell them
That both sides of my family are descended from European nobility, making me 100% noble blooded, if we still lived in medieval times.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Either 3D modeling swords on CAD softwares, painting miniatures, working on my writing, or sleeping!
How Kaz runs games
I'm a big fan of roleplay, but I like to blend it with my more physical encounters. For instance, if a player is coming face to face with a villain in their backstory, I might give them advantage on attacks against that villain if they couple it with their dialogue. It goes along with my philosophy that you have to use every part of the character in your campaign, not just their stats or just their backstory. Also, I've been known to put in the occasional trick or puzzle encounter, much to my players chagrin >:D

I deal with rules issues by...
Compromise!! 9/10, we're both making good points, so I'll go halvsies on it. You think you should do 100 damage with this move? I'll give you 50. The point of the game is to HAVE FUN, not go to court over action economy.
Rules are...
Not set in stone! Rules should be considered guidelines for campaigns, and I only pull RAW on the simplest things. I do my best to never rules lawyer people, and I will always respect the Rule of Cool above all else.
When it comes to voices
I do my best to faithfully recreate accents if I can (I can do spanish, english, scottish, irish, russian, polish, french, german, australian, and klingon, my mother is a language teacher), but if players request my normal voice, I'm happy to oblige.
Kaz's ideal table
I fit really well with people who enjoy good sarcastic humor, in depth story telling and world building, and have a flair for the dramatic! BUT! It is very important to me that people are both respectful and considerate of everyone at the table, and conduct themselves in a way that exemplifies that behavior. If someone is being problematic, I have a one strike policy, where I speak to them privately about the issue, and if they continue the problematic behavior, then I ask them to leave the table.

I love it when a player
Commits to a recurring bit!!! I love it so much!
I think it's a red flag when players...
Are more focused about being "better" or rolling higher than the rest of the party. D&D is a collaborative game, and if you can't play nice with everyone else, you shouldn't have a seat at my table.
I think metagaming...
is okay as long as its unintentional! I for one, have nearly memorized the monster manual, in terms of what each creature does and its relative healthpool, so as long as you aren't deliberately looking stuff up, its fine!
