About Richek
Hi Everyone! I'm Richek AKA Brandon (He/Him), a player of tabletop games for nearly 30 years and a GM for more than 20. I got my first taste of tabletop gaming from 2nd Edition Dungeons and Dragons games run in my elementary school lunch room and have been hooked ever since. I've been a fan of D&D ever since and have explored beyond it in systems such as Pathfinder, Shadowrun, Kids on Bikes, and others. I love to run inclusive games that are engaging to both first time players and long time veterans, with a narrative focus that encourages everyone to collaborate on the world we build together. Its my belief that everyone at the table is a main character and should have their moments in the spotlight showcase their strengths, be they in combat or in roleplay. Building worlds and lore is always a pleasure for me, but the biggest reason I started to be a GM was the satisfaction in watching a group of players take a world I outlined and make it their own. I encourage engagement and creativity over strict rules and min/maxing, and see my games as an opportunity to tell a collaborative story with a group of people, not just have some numbers be higher than others. I lean towards a "Theater of The Mind" style of play over maps a minis because I want players to think outside the constraints those can place, but I also understand the need for them and can accommodate their use. Above all, I stress that my games are *inclusive.* That means my games are LGBTQIA+ friendly and encouraged, provide accommodation for neurodivergent players, will not tolerate bigotry, racism, or hate speech, and I expect all players to be willing to commit to the same.

I became a GM because
everyone always needed a DM and it was the most sure-fire way to get a game started! But really, I just like to tell stories, and I think stories are best told as a collaboration.
People are always surprised when I tell them
I started DMing in elementary school! I didnt have a clue what I was doing but that didnt stop me!
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
flexible, creative, inclusive
How Richek runs games
I run inclusive games (i.e. LGBTQIA+, BIMPOC, Neurodivergent friendly and encouraged) that focus on the collaborative story telling aspects of the games over numbers and systems. I love to laugh with a table and encourage everyone to find ways to make our games feel like home. I put a lot of prep work into each session with plenty of world building done ahead of time but ultimately that world is the for the players to flesh out and help define. I live and die by the Rule of Cool and I really think its the GMs job to figure out how to make the random, crazy ideas of players work out in the context of the game systems. I encourage my players to be creative with their builds and use of spells/abilities outside what may be considered normal! I'm pretty solid with character voices these days but don't expect my players to get that deep into roleplay. My combat leans towards Theater of the Mind style without maps and minis but I can accommodate them if the table feels they help!
Richek's ideal table
I love players that understand that everyone at the table wants to tell a story too, and that building off of eachother and collaboratively building a world together makes for a better experience for everyone. Players that want to be the sole protagonist or only enjoy combat and big numbers probably wont have as much fun at my table as players that want to tell a story and enjoy doing so with friends and weirdly shaped numbered plastic.
