About me

**LGBTQ+ friendly and supportive! I accept all identities. My family, friends, and loved ones mean the world to me. No asshats, no exceptions.** Hello, players! My name is Rascal (He/Him), but you can call me Sam. I'm from just outside the Chicago area and have two cats with my partner of 10 years. Since I was young, I've wanted to consume all stories and learn to make others laugh, cry, and fall in love. I am a certified story junkie. I consume content like a voracious world eater, devouring every book, game, show, and obscure film I can find. While I've explored a lot of material, there are still many more things I'd love to experience, and I always welcome suggestions. I'm particularly interested in RPGs (Role-Playing Games) and B-rate movies; they are my jam! I began playing tabletop games in 2007 when I was twelve years old. As a long-time player, Game Master (GM), and writer, I have completed over a dozen campaigns ranging from level 1 to level 20. I’ve participated in more than 1,100 tabletop game sessions across various formats, engaging with a diverse array of players. With just under 9,000 hours of experience, I have maintained a successful weekly game—sometimes multiple games per week—since I began playing. My connections have come from coworkers, word of mouth, local game shops, and recently, online platforms! After several years of working as a freelance writer and game designer online, my passion for Tabletop Role-Playing Games (TTRPGs) has inspired me to pursue a career in Professional Tabletop. Visit my website to learn more; it is currently under development (N/A). **TL;DR:** No Asshats, No Exceptions. You can call me Rascal (He/Him). When it comes to story, combat, and production, I’m the go-to person. With 17 years of experience in playing and running TTRPGs, I am now focusing on building a professional career in this field after working as a freelance writer online. A website is on the way, so stay tuned!

GM Style

**Bombastic, Descriptive, & Experienced GM (Game Master).** I am a committed and dedicated team leader with a naturally positive disposition that I bring to any environment. This is a safe, personalized space. Let’s foster a supportive environment where anyone with a problem feels comfortable discussing it with me or the rest of the party. We’re all friends here. I will always make time for private discussions. “If something isn’t working, let’s change it.” Wielding experience in game design and detailed world-building, I create rich, believable worlds that feel alive and responsive, with compelling plots, interesting characters, and immersive settings. I focus on crafting a true sandbox experience—this is my players' story. I handle everything else, including unique locations, characters, items, and handouts to support each player. I use vivid scenes, characters, and events to enhance immersion. I like to direct my games like a movie, using various cuts, curated music, and asides while maintaining a snappy pace and a consistent mood. I want to inspire pacing and ensure players are excited, involved, and active throughout each session. While I’m not a professional voice actor (yet), I have a few great voices and draw on my creative writing background to create memorable and socially fulfilling NPCs (non-Player Characters). As a GM, I demonstrate quick thinking and adaptability. I work well under pressure and have the experience to stay three steps ahead. When I'm surprised, I reward my players based on their creativity and problem-solving solutions! I can pivot storylines or challenges without derailing the overall plot and handle setbacks or slow gameplay, ensuring all players have enjoyable turns. I am a combat-oriented GM, but I enjoy long-form RP (Role-Playing) and political intrigue! Although we typically include at least one combat encounter per session, there have been times we’ve gone a session or two without having any major encounters, only to build up a major boss battle that can take up an entire game day! **TL;DR:** Dedicated and encouraging team leader with experience in game design and detailed worldbuilding. My motto is: “If something isn’t working, let’s change it.” New players are always welcome!
