About QueenieDoodle

Hello I'm Doodle! I am a non-binary little goblin doing non-binary little goblin things! From art to games to talking way to much about the things I'm passionate about. I have ran games for different TTRPGS since 2015 when I was in high school. I am a DM that prefers fun and story over rules but rules are still in place to keep it fair among the players. I like to create home brew worlds that are fun to explore and experience. I like to include my players backstories into the lore as much as I can. Its far more fun to have players be a bigger part of the world and plot in my opinion. The story is about the players after all, I want each player to feel involved in the story. I have helped new players learn ttrpgs (mostly because I dragged my friends into ttrpgs) and am usually willing to work with new players that want to learn. :) I have experience dming pathfinder 1e the most but prefer running dnd 5e for players I am not as familiar with. If the want arises I may consider pathfinder if players want to try it out and are comfortable with my dming style. Though I am a heavy role-play and story focused GM, I do like to include challenging fights for my players. A good fight that is a struggle but doesn't feel hopeless. Not because I like my players to suffer, but I adore that cheer everyone gets at the table when you do succeed. Player death is always possible in my games but not something I actively try to make happen. It's a roll of the dice.

I started running games because...

A young goblin named by the queenie doodle found this podcast on the internet made by three silly men. The Adventure Zone podcast is still something I occasionally rewatch, though I haven't watched more than Balance.

My favorite shows/movies are

Right now my favorite is Nimona. I love the undertones in it, the characters, the plot and the world building. As well as the art! But my comfort movies are the Kung Fu Panda 1-3 movies. I put them on as background noise often when im stressed.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Probably drawing, reading or gaming. I also stream for fun. I even draw when I'm in the brainstorming phase of prep for dnd. Some npcs and places I sketch out while im working on them (But not usually seen by players) I dont mind sharing if asked.

How QueenieDoodle runs games

I've listed this in my about but I like to repeat myself instead of the information getting buried. My gming style is very role-play and story heavy with a mix of challenging fights. My priority for games is the plot and players having fun. Though I do like putting in fights that are a bit of a struggle at times. Not every fight is a struggle but for big important fights I like them to feel tense. Not because I like the players to suffer but because of the cheer after when the players overcome that big threat. Story wise I like to home brew worlds for players to explore. With interesting hooks for different interest players may like. An important part of this to me is also including player backstories so each character feels tied to the world and the plot. I also like to be flexible in changing up the plot to fit what the players are more enjoying. If I make a plot line to track down and fight a monster but the players seem to prefer that smaller quest about gathering the shiny objects, then I'm going to try and make those shiny objects more of a plot point and fun for players to gather. A home rule I have is at the end of every session players will take turns listing their favorite moment of the session, a thing they enjoyed about another player that session, desires for next session and future interests in the full campaign. This tends to leave players feeling happy and more confident and its fun as a group to look back on happy moments that day together.

I prep by

I mentioned drawing for brainstorming but actual prep I like to keep very organized. I have my music going and sometimes im in a chat with friends. I tend to build the world and plot and what would happen if players dont interact, and during game it changes see how players change things.

My favorite trope is...

The villain that gets redeemed and is super awkward. Its not a guarantee in my games but if a tables attempting to redeem an npc I try to work with them. However sometimes a villains motives are just too high to argue with. I also love morally grey characters granted they have good reasons.

Rules are...

* No GEN AI at my table ever * Players must be 18+ to join. * Consent sheets are mandatory * Any hate of any kind towards other players isnt tolerated. * No NSFW in games (fades to black instead) * Basic understanding of other players comfort * Home brew must be approved before session by me

QueenieDoodle's ideal table

Players who love to roleplay with one another, or npcs. That like to be in character when talking about their plans. Players who enjoy exploration and story focused games. That might enjoy their character struggling emotionally with their past, or seeing how they develop through arcs. That have backstories they want part of the plot and are willing to work with me on changing them slightly so they fit better (like answering questions and taking an occasional suggestion i dont want to control the backstory just use it and try to work with players that want more included) I do have tactics to my combats but I think a player focused on only combat would not enjoy my table. My combats are story based and sure I do like to make them challenging but are not the priority in my games. A player that enjoys roleplay and combat would still have fun. <3 Mid maxers would likely not enjoy my games either. I do try to build challenging thigns but not to the point of mid maxing balancing.

I love it when a player

Talks highly of other players moments of glory after session. Being able to enjoy everyones fun means you're very into the game and others having fun. Being able to share that spotlight and adore doing it is an amazing fit for my table <3

I think it's a red flag when players...

Ignore other players boundaries. Even if its something your character would do role play wise. If it makes another player uncomfy remember that you can come up with a reason your character doesnt push the real persons boundary. Drama between characters is fun but not between players

My table is not the place for...

Lone wolf players. While a lone wolf character can work if a player knows how to force their character to interact with others, I cannot trust this in a player I'm unfamiliar with. My table is heavy role play and thrives on player interaction.
