About Adam
Hail and Well Met! (That's the official greeting of the Forgotten Realms) I've been playing D&D since 1987. I've been DMing just as long, first with family and then friends. Started just before 2nd edition with Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, and have continued playing up through 5e and am excited about D&D 2024. I run mostly published adventures, but I enjoy adapting them for my players and seeing how far we can stretch them while still pursuing the main quest. My GM Style is probably more Rule of Cool than Rules as Written. I like to make sure characters can be heroic and players feel good about playing. I do not allow evil characters, because I've seen too many players use that as an excuse to be jerks and I don't want that at my table. I really focus on each player so you don't have to worry about being talked over or talked down to. I keep my games PG-13 with cut scene romances and relationships. It's a digital game not a dating app. I have always been in mixed-sex groups and I believe D&D and other RPGs should be a safe space for players and characters. I'm a strong ally for marginalized humans, and I'm always working to be better so I can make those around me better. You should feel safe and heard when playing a game, and I want to know right away if you feel differently. LGBTQIA+ friendly. BIPOC friendly.

I became a GM because
I was the one with the books. I read them. I played them. I played the game without the books. On car trips and camping trips. At recess and on the bus. I played all the time. And I've never stopped.
My favorite system of all Time is
D&D. The Granddaddy of them all. I play it becasue I appreciate the support from the company. The ease of use. The amount of material. And the pool of players. It's everything I want in a game system.
When I'm not running games I'm...
parenting 3 teens and a 4 year old. Also, playing games. Lots and lots of games.
How Adam runs games
With over a decade of experience as a WotC playtester, I offer a deep understanding of the rules while maintaining a flexible and adaptable style. I play with very few house rules and would rather make a call in the moment to give advantage or disadvantage to a roll. I run nearly all my campaigns from published adventures. I'm not an author, so I lean on others' skills for that and bring my INT and CHA, math skills and improv. I love to use tech when I can, but could run a game with a piece of graph paper, pencil and set of dice if needed.

I prep by
using technology. As I'm setting up the maps or miniatures digitally, or printing minis, I'm thinking or reading about the session. I'm in the zone while preparing.
Rules are...
important but fun is more important.
When it comes to voices
I try. Sometimes I get them right, sometimes I sound like Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck combined.
Adam's ideal table
My games are not Critical Role. My games are not Dimension 20. My games are not Acquisitions Incorporated. My games are mine. They are fun. They are family-friendly. They are as much your games as they are mine. I like running dungeon crawls and adventure campaigns; I'm not big into LARPing at the table. My tables are not run by rules lawyers, nor are they run by min/maxers. My tables have a revolving spotlight so everyone shines and includes everyone and anyone. In short, (too late) my tables are awesome.

I think min/maxing...
is fine, if not a bit boring. There is so much a hero can do with a weakness.
My perfect party mix is
Chex.
My table is not the place for...
blood lust or sexual fantasies. I run PG-13 games. There are no bedroom scenes happening in my games. No loincloth romances. No one is willingly seduced by the vampire. My table is not the place for evil players. Good always wins. Always.
