About Pete the Elder

I’m Pete ‘the Elder’, a long-time GM and tabletop wargamer with decades of experience running one-shots and campaigns across fantasy, sci-fi, modern, and historical settings. I discovered Kriegsspiel years ago and loved what it does best: fog of war, meaningful decisions, and consequences that emerge naturally from play. These days I blend Kriegsspiel-style adjudication with roleplay to create games where you’re placed in tense situations, given imperfect information, and asked to make real choices under pressure. If you enjoy grounded worlds, tough calls, and stories shaped by what you do at the table, you’ll feel right at home in my games.

How Pete the Elder runs games

I run gritty historical fantasy with a grounded tone: hard choices, imperfect information, and consequences that follow naturally from what you do. The world can be bleak, and NPCs may be blunt or hostile, but the table stays respectful and collaborative. My games use a Kriegsspiel / FKR approach: you state intent, ask smart questions, and make decisions under fog of war. Combat is fast and dangerous, and survival often depends on reconnaissance, teamwork, and knowing when to withdraw. I strongly encourage player interaction and camaraderie—because in this kind of world, you don’t win alone.

Rules are...

Important, but not so much to dampen player enjoyment and engagement. If I think something outside the rules is realistic and adds to everyone´s experience in a positive way then I´ll run with it.

Pete the Elder's ideal table

My ideal table is collaborative, curious, and decisive. Players share information, talk through plans, and support each other’s spotlight. You don’t need to be loud, but you do need to be engaged: ask questions, make choices, and accept that imperfect information is part of the fun. We keep the tone gritty in-world and respectful at the table, and we treat rulings as fast, fair calls so the game keeps moving.

I love it when a player

When players get a real feel for their characters, their comrades and the environment they are in that is always great to see.
