About OracleGaming
Hi, I'm Zak. I got into D&D during 4th edition and have been DM'ing since day one. Over the years, I’ve run everything from one-shots to multi-year campaigns, battle royales to pirate adventures, gritty low fantasy to festive chaos. My style is rooted in collaborative storytelling: I love weaving player backstories and in-game choices into the narrative so the world feels reactive and personal. As a player, my first character was Vimak Thunderfist, and I’ve had a soft spot for barbarians ever since—they’re still my most-played class. I’ve also spent time as an ancient (and very frail) druid, a swashbuckling monk, and a wandering bard, among others. If I could only play one game for the rest of my life, it would have to be Dungeons & Dragons, nothing beats that feeling when you hear; “Roll for initiative!”

How OracleGaming runs games
I run games with a strong focus on collaborative storytelling, where players aren’t just along for the ride, they actively shape the world around them. I like to build narratives around character backstories, motivations, and choices, so the story evolves in a way that feels personal and driven by the party. Actions have weight, consequences matter, and the direction of the campaign grows naturally from what the players decide to pursue. Worldbuilding is a big part of my style. Whether the setting leans toward gritty low fantasy or something more strange and fantastical, I aim to make it feel lived-in and reactive. I focus on creating believable cultures, factions, and locations that players can engage with, influence, and shape over time. I aim to challenge players across all three pillars of play: combat, exploration, and roleplay. That might mean tense encounters, tricky moral decisions, or situations that reward creativity over brute force. I like presenting problems without obvious solutions and seeing how the group works through them together. Creativity is at the heart of how I run games. I love homebrewing new rules, mechanics, and systems when it enhances the experience, tailoring things to suit the group and the story. I also like experimenting with encounter design and structure, along with custom touches like tailored rewards that tie back into the story. My approach to rules is grounded, I prefer to keep things consistent enough to maintain fairness and an element of realism, but flexible enough to support cinematic moments and player creativity. I’m also open to exploring different themes and tones depending on the story and the group, whether that’s something more light-hearted, grounded, or mature. Whatever direction the game takes, my priority is always ensuring everyone at the table feels comfortable, engaged, and part of a shared story. Above all, my games are about having fun and telling an awesome story with great friends. Whether it’s a one-shot or a long-running campaign, I want to create memorable moments, share some laughs, and build a story that everyone at the table feels a part of.
OracleGaming's ideal table
Players who enjoy collaborative storytelling and want to interact with the setting will fit well at my table. I suit people who like a balance of roleplay, exploration, and combat in roughly equal measures, and who are open to creative problem-solving. I also value players who are respectful, group-focused, and communicative about boundaries. If you’re here to engage with the story and have fun as a team, you’ll fit right in.

I love it when a player
Comes up with a creative way to use one of their abilities.
I think it's a red flag when players...
Don’t make an effort to learn their character. I’m always happy to support newer players or anyone who’s struggling, as long as they’re willing to put in some effort themselves.
My perfect party mix is
Three halfling barbarians in a trench coat.
