About Nicki Halopka
Hello! My name is Nicki, I've been playing Dnd 5e for 10 years. I've been a player character in several campaigns, but have also DM'd my own created one-shots, as well as prescripted campaigns like Curse of Strahd and Eve of Vecna. I'm looking to specifically create an inclusive and fun experience for everyone, but especially Women and folks who are apart of the LGBTQ+ community.

My favorite shows/movies are
Anything on Dropout TV currently. Gamechanger, Um Actually, Make Some Noise, SmartyPants etc. I also really enjoy comedies like Parks and Rec, Community, and Bob's Burgers. My guilty pleasure shows are cheesy or bad reality tv like Naked and Afraid, Diners Drive-ins and Dives, etc.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Fun, consistent, and understanding. I try to make sure that everyone at my table has a vested interest in the story line, which often means tailoring story arcs to allow them to shine!
When I'm not running games I'm...
Reading or Hiking! I usually read 100-150 books per year, so send me your recommendations!
How Nicki Halopka runs games
I enjoy creating systems that have a balance of challenging puzzles, critical thinking, and combat that will test players action economy. I really like to support roleplaying in my games, so I tend to spend time with players prior to sessions to get to know what the motivations of their characters are. I love to weave their own personal easter eggs into the story to make it a more fun and memorable experience.

My games focus on...
Everyone is having a good time, and that they are getting out of the session what they wanted. I love to role play and make challenging combat scenarios where they may have to critically think to ensure survival of all members. I'm not going to pull punches or make it unreasonably hard.
Rules are...
The guiderails to your character. While I may not budge on certain logistical things, I do think there are times that they need not apply as strictly. One example is I'm not going to make the party go out and forage for food and water. It just happens. What makes sense narratively is important.
When it comes to voices
I can try, they aren't great, but at least we all laugh while it's happening.
Nicki Halopka's ideal table
The types of players that fit well are the ones that come up with unique solutions to problems and work well with others. I don't love when one character dominates a session, or when folks are only in it for the combat. I like DMing for new folks, as I think I'm a good person to help teach the rules and guide folks through their characters and choices.

I am for a vibe that's...
Fun and lighthearted, but down to get to the nitty gritty. I like groups that challenge themselves and don't just go for the easy murder everyone in sight. If you have a plan for something that I didn't even think about, I love that!
I think metagaming...
Can hurt the narrative and the experience of other players. I do not mind "above the table" questions, but folks that are successfully roleplaying understand that metagaming can be harmful to the experience.
My table is not the place for...
racism, homophobia, sexism, etc.. I want my table to be a place where everyone feels welcomed and are excited to be apart of!
