About Rex

My years of GMing have taught me many things, like how handing player a sad wet dog of a man is the easiest way to create an NPC they'll love, and Mimics make for great pets. I love making and running games that truly feel like a collaborative effort, a game that players can become immersed in. Hi! I'm Rex! I'm 25 and an AroAce theatre nerd who loves ttrpgs. I've been playing ttrpgs for about a decade now and have been a GM for most of that time. I live in France studying to be an English teacher though grew up in Australia so English is my first language. I love creating stories and acting, with Voice Acting being a hobby of mine. I'm a huge fan of roleplay in games and could spend hours roleplaying if given the chance. I've run and played in various systems, and so I have experience to run games in those systems as well as help new players learn them. The systems I'm familiar with include: Alice Is Missing Anime Campaign (Epithets) Daggerheart Demigods Digimon: Digital Adventure Dungeons and Dragons (5e) Fabula Ultima Masks: A New Generation Monster of the Week Mutants and Masterminds Pokemon Tabletop Adventures 2 Pokemon Tabletop United You Awaken in a Strange Place

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

Fabula Ultima, Alice is Missing and Mutants and Masterminds

When I'm not running games I'm...

working on writing stories and voice acting. The creative arts are a big part of my life so practically all of my time is spent on some creative endeavour or another.

Great storytelling, attention to detail and dedication to their players. A lot of care is put into the world that they have dropped us into and just as much care is put into details for characters and back stories. Great example for the Pokémon ttrpg each character has a custom made token by Rex that he handmade, and they look amazing. Level of care and detail not many other dungeon masters would go through the trouble of providing. Five stars. *Edit! Rex goes above and beyond to make his games amazing. I got to listen to his new free game I’m in. (Wasn’t able to play just yet due to a road trip but I got to listen in!) He clearly loves the worlds he creates and the characters he tells stories for!! 30 out of 10 stars

Rex has been our group's GM for three years, and it's been an incredible journey in the awesome and cool world he's built from the ground up. He has a real talent for making sure everyone's story matters, giving each player their moment to shine. At the same time, he creates combat encounters that are challenging, fair, and genuinely fun for those who love strategy. If you want a GM who builds amazing worlds and makes sure every player has a great time, Rex is one of the best out there. We're lucky to have him!

Rex is a great GM!! Their storytelling is on point, and is always tailored to include all players as well as their character's story. There's always cool music, cool maps, cool character arts for NPCs, and a good balance of combat and story. 100% recommend, whether you're a new players or a veteran :D

Rex is an amazing and thoughtful DM, that will entice you with amazing world building, hook you in with memorable NPCs (both those you love to love and those you love to hate), and keep you on your toes (or knock down on your ass) with plot twists and rising stakes. Supportive of players' ideas for characters and approaches to problems, there will be consequences to poorly planned actions (like casting Lightingbolt underwater, or bringing things bad guys are looking for right to them). Overall, every session, both banter and gaming, are a treat, hitting all the right notes, with each player and character having things to do and moments to shine.

I enjoy the ideas and story that they come up with. They ease you into the story and system even if it is your first time playing. The world they create are interesting and engaging there also really good amount of lore to understand the background of the world you are playing

How Rex runs games

My GMing style is very much that of a storyteller. I excel in the roleplay and improv aspects of ttrpgs more so than combat. I'm a hobbyist voice actor so most of my NPCs will have at least slightly different voices to differentiate them and I try convey their feelings and mannerisms through their voices. While I'm not a huge fan of combat, and it's definitely my weakest area as a GM, I try my best to make it enjoyable for my players, usually by adding different objectives or interesting mechanics for the monsters. Random encounters aren't very common in my games though I do try to add frequent story or lore based encounters for those who enjoy combat. I love worldbuilding, I have a fantasy world that I have been crafting alongside my games for years, expanding and fleshing out the world little by little with each campaign I run. I will often give players the opportunity to be part of that process, creating smaller folklores and details in my world, such as asking players to come up with a legend associated with a statue they encounter or asking them to describe a ceremony that would be performed for a deity. The games I run tend to lean more whimsical. I enjoy running heroic campaigns though on occasion will dip into villainous territory, though it's not very common. I like to give players a mix of different tones and styles to make campaigns a little more interesting, a story about exploration in a new land could dip into horror for a few sessions as the party explores a haunted forest for example. My goal in every campaign I run is to have moments when players can laugh, cry and stare at their screens in shock, all while enjoying themselves and the stories we create together.

My games focus on...

Narrative and characters. My goal is to make my campaigns feel like a TV show; the story is often separated into arcs and I favour making big moments seem cinematic over strictly following the rules. If the players don't feel like their characters are the heroes of an epic story than I've failed.

Rules are...

a useful guideline to help establish how the world works but by no means sacred. You don't become a hero by sticking strictly to what rules dictate.
