About Jessica
I've been playing 5e with other systems scattered in since 2020, and GM'd a homebrew game since 2022, completing the campaign after 2 1/2 years. I am married to another GM and raising a youngster who as nerdy as we are.

I became a GM because
I became a GM because I love to weave stories. I come from a line of storytellers, each of us telling tales that change with each telling to aid in immersion and entertainment for those listening. The creative aspect of weaving player actions into the ever changing tale of an adventure is beautiful.
My favorite shows/movies are
My favorite shows and movies are all in the fantasy and science fiction genres. At the top are all of the movies set in Middle Earth, in particular Return of the King. The entire Star Wars franchise and Doctor Who series tie for my top favorite science fiction programs.

The three words my players would use to describe me are: inventive, bombastic, hopeful.
How Jessica runs games
I love to run games that are about 60% story and 40% combat, weaving every player into the narrative. When the rules are in question, I endeavor to be fair based on the plain wording, but the "rule of cool" will usually take center stage. I am open to running pre-written campaigns but reserve the right to add in my own flavor.

If my games were movies they'd be directed by Joe Johnston. The players are the heroes, and there is some science / science fiction involved in my homebrew stories. Or Alfred Hitchcock for stories that are a little weird and funny.
I prep by
I prep by thinking about what else is going on in the world if the players do nothing, and consider what the NPCs feel about the status quo. With that in the back of my mind, I am prepared for almost anything the players do.
When it comes to voices
When it comes to voices, I usually do a hint of inflection, but I will lean into voices quite a bit more when my players are roleplaying with the NPC.
Jessica's ideal table
My table vibes are typically relaxed with no stress but also an emotional rollercoaster leaving players wanting more each session to find out what will happen next. The best players for my table are people with a good sense of humor that enjoy telling a great story both with their characters and interaction with the world.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
If you're into Lord of the Rings or northern Europe mythology, or even science fiction sprinkled into the fantasy story, you're going to love my table.
I love it when a player
I love it when a player engages in role play, even if it's done in 3rd person, "Mysteria would say..."
I think metagaming...
I think metagaming spoils your own fun. I mix up stat blocks or homebrew them entirely to minimize that possibility.
