About Jake R.
Welcome adventurer. Come in, take your shoes off, and stay awhile. I'm Jake, Guildmaster of the Moonsong Adventurers Guild. A group formed by adventurers, for adventurers. May I get you a drink? How about a delicious, freshly baked sweetroll? (Don't worry, I won't steal it. Greg might, though). The Moonsong Adventurers Guild was founded on the idea that every person can make their mark on the world. Which I am here to help you do that. Be it long conversations in the tavern, exciting strolls in dark caves, or attempting to become the ruler of your world, we will provide you with all of the resources you need to succeed. That said, let me introduce myself more formally. I started DMing about 10 years ago. Stepping into the role to support the multiclass into motherhood than my own adventure leader took at her level-up. From there, several adventurers have risen from humble beginnings (level 1) to walking on the precipice of divinity (level 20), and made their marks on the world they inhabit. I have a passion for weaving fates that are memorable, comedic, and above all, fun. My background before stepping into this role is in manufacturing. Switching wrenches and machines for quill and paper was only a natural transition, and I take what I learn from all areas of life to craft telling adventures that will stand the test of time. Most of my games last for years, although occasionally shorter adventures emerge from time to time. If you want to find out more, I'm going to need an investigation check, adventurer.

I got started GMing...
When the DM who introduced me to TTRPGs had to multiclass into motherhood. Her adventures took her elsewhere, and I stepped in as the master of fates and weaver of yarns. She still holds a place in my heart and has set me on the path of endless adventures.
My favorite books are
Anything with a thrilling story and a rich world. My all-time favorite series is The Witcher. Followed by Metro and, more recently, the Fourth Wing series. I enjoy a wide variety to help inspire my ever-growing list of adventures.
People are always surprised when I tell them
My true legal name is just Jake. Not short for Jacob. It's quite fun not to answer when people call me Jacob, only for them to find out they have been calling me the wrong name the entire time. I'm sure there are other genuine Jake's out there, and maybe one day I will meet them.
How Jake R. runs games
Well well, adventurer. Welcome back. That was quite the investigation role (Natural 20, huzzah!) Here is what you find out. - The adventures you will embark on make up 60% roleplay and 40% combat on average. (Numbers subject to change to accommodate all adventurers) - Your choices will matter. Decisions made at level 1 may come back at level 7. NPCs will remember you. - The world will remember you. Fate is yours to write. - Just around the corner is the Lunar Shop. A custom inspiration shop where the energies you create by changing the world's fate can be exchanged for rewards that no other vendor can ever offer. - You will receive an immersive experience. Rich detailed roleplay and challenging combats that reward strategy and creative thinking. Every story needs a protagonist and the Moonsong Adventurers Guild is here to ensure you survive long enough to leave your mark. So go forth, and shape the world for the better (or worse!)

I deal with rules issues by...
Being a Guildmaster, there will come a time when decisions will be challenged. When this happens, a meeting will be set with the adventurer (outside of game time) to have a discussion and see what sort of path we can take to continue enjoying each others company.
My games focus on...
The adventurer's choices. Every decision will influence the story going forward, even when the world tries to move on without the same adventurers. Fate is like a tapestry. Each decision is a new thread. Fate never forgets.
When it comes to voices
Voices are something that I actively work on. This is admittedly, one of my weaker points as the Guildmaster of Moonsong. However, each character has their own unique personality, and I strive to ensure everyone feels unique and alive in the world.
Jake R.'s ideal table
Ah, yes, adventurer, now you are asking the right questions. And I see you rolled a natural 20 insight check. Good job, you are starting strong. When you decide to join one of our adventuring parties, you will find yourself a part of an easy-going, story-first group of people. We value the narrative more than optimization (min-maxing) and reward those who remain true to themselves going forward. The world will welcome you with open arms and form around you and your desires. Overall, we maintain a respectful and safe place for all adventurers to enjoy their time and truly make their mark on the world.

I love it when a player
Really invests into their character. Their hopes, dreams, and desires. Figuring out how to navigate the world and weave telling stories with their fellow adventurers.
I think min/maxing...
Works well if the entire table shares this playstyle. I've run groups where it was a mix, and the imbalance of power can lead to some not getting as much enjoyment as others. Though I do not outright bar this kind of play, it is strongly discouraged if it is not the dominant trait in the group.
My table is not the place for...
Anyone who displays main-character syndrome. The collaborative nature of being on an adventuring team is not suited for anyone who displays the fatal flaw. Min-Maxers also may not enjoy the ride as much as others who ride the waves of the narrative being woven together.
