I started playing D&D in the mid 80's, and through out my life I've been a part of some great RPG groups with some amazing GMs & players. I have a passion for not only immersing myself but those around me in TTRPG adventures. I've been a TTRPG streamer on various Twitch & YouTube shows for 5 years now. I'm now working towards paying my bills as a full-time Pro GM on StartPlaying. I have been an actor in theater for 20 years, and I love the thrill of performing for a live audience. Role Playing & improv come naturally to me from this life long experience, and with this resurgence of TTRPGs I've begun teaching new players how to play D&D. It's my goal as a Pro GM to leave all my players with a memorable experience, that has them craving the taste of a continued or new adventure! Interested in a homebrewed or custom campaign? My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
I would probably bring D&D, Alien RPG, and Champions. D&D for that classic fantasy RPG, Alien for a bit of Sci-fi that I could reskin for almost any modern to sci-fi type setting, and finally Champions because I love some crunchy hero action where you can easily level a city block in a fight.
How Matt runs games
What you expect from me as your GM: ~ I provide a safe & accepting table for those of all skill level, those with disabilities, & the LGBTQ+ community. ~ If you're new to the TTRPG (Tabletop Role Playing) Community, I will work to help you become comfortable with the game! I want you to be excited for the next game session & I try to match enthusiasm rather than experience when picking players. ~ I work hard to incorporate your character's backgrounds after working with you to fit the theme of the adventure. I want you to be invested in your character. ~ Maps! (Both Static & Animated) for you to experience on Foundry VTT for both Roleplay & Combat. ~ I curate music & ambient backgrounds to help immerse you in the adventures you go on. When you close your eyes I want you to feel like you are surrounded by the world we will create together. ~I create challenges to accommodate all playstyles, from challenging, tactical combat to roleplayed negotiations to intellectually stimulating puzzles and any combination of encounter. I specialize in encounters that offer multiple solutions for creative thinking. ~ I work to make NPC interactions colorful. I will use voices, hand gestures, & unique personalities to distinguish NPCs you meet along your adventures. I follow the 'rule of cool', where the overall experience of cooperative storytelling outweighs strictly adhering to the rulebook. I want you to feel special and heroic as players. In the end it's your story, I'm but a humble guide.
