About Marx
Hi! I've been playing roleplaying games since I was 13, when I stumbled into a game of Star Wars (the original West End Games version). I was hooked ever since, and started GMing not long after. I have GM'ed dozens of games over the years: D&D (2e-5e), Tales of the Valiant, Mutants & Masterminds, Shadowdark, Daggerheart, Monsters of the Week, Action Movie World, Call of Cthulhu, Delta Green, Buffy the Vampire Slayer RPG, Star Wars, d20 Modern, Everyday Heroes, Marvel Super Heroes, etc.. I'm an author and founder of Cabbit Crossing Publishing, including the YouTube channel. The channel isn't exclusively TTRPG content, but much of it is. I co-host GenreTainment, GenrePlay, Art of the Game, and Behind the Dice. I've also been a player for the actual play channels Dreamslayer Studios and Art of the Roll. I’ve interviewed game designers, published multiple fiction anthologies, and spent years exploring fantasy, horror, sci-fi, and the strange corners between. I'm always learning to be a better GM, but I can say I have many years of experience and love seeing happy players at my table. I have experience with multiple VTTs, but mostly use Owlbear currently. I also have Streamyard for my channel, so can use that for play combined with Owlbear. I have licensed music combined with royalty free music to add that extra touch.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Dungeons & Dragons: A classic! Monster of the Week: One of my favorite rules-lite game systems. I love the genre and have been a Game Master (a.k.a. Keeper) to many fun mysteries for the game. BRP/d100 - Call of Cthulhu and the various Mythras games are nice mix of crunchy and narrative gaming.
My favorite shows/movies are
Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Stargate SG-1, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Star Trek
How Marx runs games
I'm a storyteller, and as a GM, I love helping players tell epic stories they will remember for the rest of their lives. My style blends cinematic tension with a light touch of humor. I can dial the game to make it darker (Call of Cthulhu, Curse of Strahd) or make things over-the-top (Action Movie World), depending on the group and the game. I use music and occasional sound effects to help with immersion. Sometimes, we can run the game more theater of the mind, but for those more tactical games, I use Owlbear. I run games for newcomers and veterans alike. If you’re curious about a system, I love teaching the fundamentals and guiding players into a new rule set. If you're looking for a GM who’s organized, creative, flexible, and ready to craft a memorable adventure with you, grab a seat. The torch is lit, the dice are waiting, and the story is about to begin.
