I became a GM because
I became a GM because I wanted truly open-ended roleplay. I wanted a world without invisible walls, where choices matter and creativity defines the story. When I could not find it, I built it myself.
How Whiskey runs games
I prefer to run gritty, well-grounded, hyper-realistic campaigns (even if there's a bunch of dragons and wizards running around) in living, breathing worlds. Very much a fan of role play over dice play. I consider myself a storyteller first and a "game" master second, and prefer to see myself more of a facilitator of collaborative storytelling rather than a host for "games". I enjoy transporting people into other worlds for truly immersive experiences, instead of run of the mill hack'n'slash adventures.
Whiskey's ideal table
My ideal table is built on immersion, consistency, and meaningful play. I am not interested in shallow entertainment or throwaway characters. I want a table where players take the world seriously, invest in their roles, and understand that their choices have weight. The players who thrive with me are the ones who approach the game as if it were real. They think about their character’s ambitions, fears, and flaws. They speak in character, they take risks, and they accept that setbacks are as much a part of the story as victories. They are not looking for wish fulfillment or plot armor. They want stories that challenge them and resonate because the outcome is never guaranteed. The general atmosphere at my tables is serious, immersive, and layered with subtext. I describe scenes with sensory detail so that players feel grounded in the moment. Pacing is deliberate rather than rushed. Humor has its place, but it arises naturally from character and circumstance rather than being forced. The table’s energy is one of consequence and intrigue, where tension itself becomes part of the fun. I expect maturity. That means players who stay engaged, respect each other’s time, and treat the game as a shared experience. It means being willing to play flawed characters, to compromise, to lose, and to carry the consequences of choices forward into the narrative. If your only goal is to “win,” this is not the right table. If your goal is to play someone human and complex in a world that pushes back, then you will be a good fit. The players I enjoy most are curious, adaptable, and committed. You do not need mastery of lore or mechanics to sit at my table. What matters is a willingness to bring a character you care about and to invest in the story that unfolds. In return, I will create a game that respects your agency, gives weight to your decisions, and allows your story to matter in a larger tapestry. Not every player will find this style appealing, and that is by design. My table is for those who want a demanding, immersive experience where highs and lows both feel earned, and where no two games will ever unfold the same way.
