About Shannon

Looking for a Dungeon Master who brings heart, flexibility, and creativity to the table? You’ve found the right one. I’ve been DMing since January and have already led a variety of adventures—from cozy 3-player groups to chaotic 8-player parties. While I’m still growing and learning as a DM, I bring a strong sense of storytelling, pacing, and player-focused design to every session. I love blending official modules with my own homebrew twists to keep things fresh, surprising, and uniquely ours. Whether you're brand new to the game or a seasoned adventurer, I tailor each session to fit your playstyle—emotional roleplay, tactical combat, lighthearted hijinks, or a custom mix. My games are collaborative, welcoming, and built to spotlight what makes you excited to play.

I became a GM because

I wanted to test my storytelling and creative abilities. I love improv and wanted to gather a group of friends to unite in an online game. I didn't have enough DnD in my life before becoming a GM. Running a game has brought such joy into my life! It's the highlight of every week.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

My players, I'm attentive, loving, and flexible. Each player feels important to the story. I weave in backstories, welcome chaos, and adapt to their needs, moods, and focus. A private Discord space, the "Den of Secrets," lets me explore one-on-one moments and character arcs.

How Shannon runs games

I'm a flexible and player-focused DM who adapts to the group’s preferences—whether that means diving deep into roleplay, running tactical combat encounters, or mixing the two. I love crafting moments that feel meaningful for your character, whether it's a heartfelt conversation with an NPC or a cinematic final blow in battle. I enjoy bringing NPCs to life with character voices and distinct personalities, and I especially love when players get emotionally invested in the world around them. That said, if you're more into dungeon crawling and tactical choices, I’ve got you covered there too. I run both official modules and homebrew content, often blending the two to surprise even the most experienced players. I'm still growing as a DM and always learning, but I bring creativity, energy, and a genuine love for the game to every session. Whether you're brand new to D&D or have played for years, my table is a welcoming space for you to explore, grow, and have fun.

I prep by

drinking lots of coffee, examining maps and refreshing myself on possible NPC's the players might run into. I keep in mind the main mission the party has, and side missions and puzzles they might enjoy.

Rules are...

guidelines created to ensure a fair experience. I do love rewarding creative and out-of-the-box thinking and so if it makes sense in the setting, within the character, and in the moment I generally allow it. As a newer DM, I appreciate players that help me remember rules when I forget.

Shannon's ideal table

My table is online, but that is no barrier. Any character that wants to work together with others, is willing to learn, and laugh will enjoy themselves in our campaign. The chaos goblin, the lawful good rule-follower, the morally gray character - any of these are welcome. My table is a safe space for everyone. I encourage respectful communication, questions, and player collaboration.

I think it's a red flag when players...

lean so far into character they no longer consider the group as important. They don't wish to collaborate or work with the team or myself, which drains enjoyment from the table as a whole.

I think metagaming...

is cheating in the game. I give a warning and then pull a player aside for a one-on-one to figure out why they are metagaming. Is it anxiety? a desire to win the game? a desire to show off? If players keep metagaming, and if the group still as a whole is enjoying themselves, I'll just homebrew.
