About Marcin

I love running narrative systems like Fate and City of Mist oferring lots of freedom to explore various narratives, though that doesn't stop me of dreaming about running a long PF2e campaign. I adore players who start their character pitch with "I don't know if this is possible..." because for me, most of the fun in creating a game is applying various ideas and mechanics, combining them into cohesive world and experience. I keep my prep to minimum to be ready for anything my players throw at me, usually I come to a session having few points regarding the plot and possible scenes along with couple of NPCs, the rest comes from synergy between me and the players. There's usually lots of banter and funny moments but it all eventually leads to great roleplay moments. Important Notes: - All games are LGBTQIA-friendly! - No racism, sexism or any form of hate speech is acceptable at my table and will be punished swiftly!

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

Fate as it's the singe most universal system I've found, definitely a great choice for any type of game. DND 5e for nostalgia's sake as it was my gateway drug into the world of roleplaying. Cy_BORG as it's a wonderfully simple OSR that awakened a love of cyberpunk in me.

My favorite books are

Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn and Stormlight Archive, and recently books by Camilla Läckberg. One of them has shown me how to build an epic storyline spanning multiple pages, the other revealed how a simple mystery can pull you in and keep you hooked until the end.

My favorite shows/movies are

Magnus Archive/Protocol, Midnight Burger and Old Gods of Appalachia. I love the intricate worldbuilding with deep lore that slowly unveils before you. I also love rich characters with distinct personalities and horrors that blend in a pinch of humour.

How Marcin runs games

I love brainstorming ideas with my players, helping them with creating a perfect character or crafting great character arcs. I'm running premade adventures/modules, sometimes sprinkling some of my own little ideas ^^ Not a fan of creating voices as I'm not good at them - instead I focus on making characters unique by giving them their own unique speach patterns, quirks and manners.

I once ran a session...

prepared in 2 minutes. It was a game of Mörk Borg, all we had was pens, paper, dice and character randomizer. It was a dark fantasy turned dark comedy with lots of black humor and irony.

My favorite trope is...

When two characters with chemistry end up in a room with one bed. Oh we're talking rpg tropes... Then... character's last stand, a heroic sacrifice for sake of others. It's always a powerful moment when someone gives up their life for a higher purpose, bonus point if they deliver an inspiring speech

My games focus on...

People dealing with otherwordly problems while having to resolve conflicts between the party members and their own, inner demons. Jumping between different scales of conflict keeps the game alive.

Marcin's ideal table

I love players who are open to brainstorming concepts together. Generally players that gravitate towards me are pretty chill, not stiff about rules and really focused on making quirky characters. We often spend first quarter of an hour on banter and small talk.

I love it when a player

has The Idea. A central point for their character, something that inspires them, drives them forward and makes them fun. It's a great building block to start creating a character.

I think metagaming...

sucks the fun out of game. Why play pretend if you aren't going to pretend?

My table is not the place for...

bigots.
