About Loading

I started playing DND about 5 years with my first experience and introduction to DND being animated videos of other games. My first game was a pay to play game in Curse of Strahd though I didn't enjoy the style of DMing since it lacked worldbuilding and RP being mostly focused on combat. I gathered some of my friends on a fantasy discord RP and started running my first game in a world of my creation known as Eden. The game was heavily inspired by anime such as; Fate, Jobless Reincarnation, and Frieren (back when it was still just a manga). It was a high fantasy game with my players getting a bunch of special cool powers and we ended at level 10 at a grand battle for the throne. After that I felt DND 5E wasn't exactly to my liking so I started adjusting the system more and more to my liking. Along with the new system I was making I started work on a new world that was a more low fantasy setting inspired by; Frieren, Sword of truth, and Overlord. Nowadays I am running a school game for my group of friends that takes place after a great disaster has left most of the world claimed by undead. My sessions tend to be about %60 RP and %40 combat. The difficulty of a fight tends to depend on how well the party prepared for it.

I became a GM because

I enjoy writing and storytelling with my friends.

My favorite books are

Overlord, Wizard's First Rule, Ender's Game.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Working on maps, NPC's, Monsters, and writing stories. I enjoy worldbuilding and writing so its what I do most of the time if I'm not reading or watching TV.

How Loading runs games

I work with my players from start to finish on character creation working on NPC's from their backstory and events that have shaped their life. Then I use those NPC's and events to work on a shared story with NPC's and events with other player characters to craft a concise story that all players can be engaged with. Once the game starts I work on a shared event to pull the players together. After that the story and world is open to the players to shape. Most of my games are the actions of NPC's in the world working to accomplish their goals and the players working to stop or aid those plans. This leads to a game shaped mostly by the players actions and a few key events. The system I've worked on has combat designed around lower HP for players and enemies making a faster turn based system with higher stakes. Most fights last 2-3 rounds meaning you can have some quick fun dispatching your enemies and get to more conversation and discovery.

I deal with rules issues by...

I make a quick rule in the moment to keep the flow of the game going then after session I'll see if the rule needs adjustments. My NPC's and enemies follow the same rules as the players.

My games focus on...

Characters and NPC's. I focus on an NPC's actions first typically the antagonist then I work on the responses of other NPC's until they effect the players then I see the players response until they trickle back to the antagonist to create a story centered around the players. Expect lots of roleplay!

Rules are...

Rule of cool is the #1 rule since the goal is to have fun. If a player has something cool they want to do I see rules as a way to get them there not to prevent it. I focus on the fantasy part of games and in worlds where magic exist the rules of reality don't always follow.

Loading's ideal table

My tables tend to be energetic with a strong focus on roleplay and character driven narratives. I've ran stories of players playing dragons overthrowing a kingdom building thieves guilds and heroic last stands against overwhelming odds. We place the story first and mechanics are just a way to enhance the story. If you enjoy hype table moments such as wresting dragons or blowing up castles with spells then you'll fit in well. If you also enjoy political intrigue as you navigate a web of relationships to unravel who is working for who then you will also fit in. As long as you have excitement and energy for a story to be told no matter the story then you will enjoy my games.

I am for a vibe that's...

All for the story no matter the consequences. The best action isn't always taken and that's a part of story telling so if its what the party would do then I will support the choice. Sometimes a fight isn't winnable but a stand is the right thing to do. The story can be picked up by an inspired group

I love it when a player

Messages me about ideas for their character whether that be a cool idea for an ability or a fun narrative idea such as a background detail. I want to make a character with you that you will obsess over and think about no matter where you are.

I think min/maxing...

Is natural and shouldn't be punished but instead helped. If you want to make a powerful character I will help though I also think that a powerful character should still have a flaw or weakness. DND is a team based game so you must rely on your party for something as they should rely on you for power
