About Josiah Davis
Hey there! I am a homebrew GM who mostly sticks to D&D 5e. I am 25, from just north of Chicago, and I love creating safe spaces for people to express themselves through games! I've been playing on and off for about 7 years, and have been a forever GM for the last 3 years, haha! I am outgoing, funny, quick, a master of improv and immersion, and love creating worlds that are simple on the surface, but are filled with deep lore for those interested in the finer details. I believe RPGs are a beautiful way to tell stories and play with our friends, and I am eager to provide that experience to anyone interested!

I had an idea for a new world, and a handful of friends who needed a Game Master!
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Hilarious, Easygoing, and Creative.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Working on music or watching other people play, haha!
How Josiah Davis runs games
I pride myself on being able to work with tables on what they desire most from a session or a campaign –– if we want to be murder hobos, let's have a blast while doing it! I love to balance drama and comedy and give individual PCs their moments to shine. I love to take my homebrew worlds and fit them around the PCs just as much as I love for PCs to fit themselves into the world! At my very best, though, I love GMing for fully-immersed roleplayers who can balance the fun of playing a TTRPG, while understanding that their actions and words in-game can have serious consequences, both good and bad. I love making the fantasy world feel like there are real life stakes! I grew up in the school of BLeeM, and learned to GM from watching Crown of Candy. So I know how to have fun! But if you're drawn to ASOIAF or the world of Aramán, I'm also your guy!

I deal with rules issues by...
talking it out with the table. If we can't agree, we can definitely find a compromise. The best part about running a homebrew world is that we can mess around with the rules all we want. Either way, we're gonna have a good time.
My games focus on...
storytelling. As long as we're telling a cool story, that's all I care about.
When it comes to voices
I give whatever I can! I love doing voices. My voice can only bend so much, but I love pushing that limit to create memorable NPCs.
Josiah Davis's ideal table
I love mixing new players with veterans. I love us all working together to tell a great story. My ideal table is a group of forever GMs who just want a break, and to immerse themselves in a longform campaign. I have a huge love for heavy roleplay, as my GM style heavily gives way for seamless conversation between NPCs and Player Characters. I don't take the game too seriously, the campaign is serious enough on its own and speaks for itself. I believe we have to break that up with laughter.

I think min/maxing...
is fun if the ideas fit with your character. Otherwise, it feels like "playing to win". And that is no fun at all.
My table is not the place for...
Gatekeeping or ball-hogging. We're telling a story together.
