About me
I've been running TTRPGs since 2015 and have been DMing professionally since 2022. With a background in film and theatre, storytelling has always been something that I'm passionate about. Due to my love of scifi/fantasy/horror films, you can expect all of my games to have a cinematic feel, a dash of horror, and a heavy focus on the player experience. I’ve been part of an award-winning Sketch and Improv Comedy Troupe since 2014, so my games tend to have a healthy mix of silliness and seriousness. I emphasize an improv-centric "Yes And" approach to storytelling, making sure all players are seen and heard. Every time you sit down at my table, expect a unique homebrew adventure where each player gets time in the spotlight and narrative tropes are lovingly embraced but also surprisingly subverted. I want everyone to feel like they’re the protagonist in their very own film!
GM Style
My games always have a heavy emphasis on Roleplay. I believe that the best games come from players who are invested in their characters, not just the stats. Rules help guide our world, but the characters give them life! I always try to create interesting side characters who feel multidimensional and fleshed out; characters with their own agendas and secrets. My theatre experience definitely comes in handy when exploring different accents and character voices. I utilize a lot of film language; you might hear me use phrases like "we open on," "cut to," or "fade to black," to help you better picture the events that unfold. I have a very cinematic style, and am always seeking to heighten the mood of scenes through extra elements like graphics, recordings, and props. I put a lot of energy into worldbuilding, often creating entirely new countries or worlds as settings for your stories, and detailed, custom maps of various scales. One of my favorite things to do is create curated music selections and playlists, whether that be the palpable excitement of combat or the sadness of losing a party member. Depending on the game, you may even get a chance to pick your very own Needle Drop, a song that plays at a pivotal moment and provides the backing track to your victory.
