About me

About me? Aww, you shouldn't have! Hi, I'm Jake. My primary system is D&D 5e, since I have been playing it since middle school. I love watching actual play shows like Critical Role and Dimension 20, so much of my inspiration comes from things like that. Once upon a time, I was brought to a magical land of adventure and fun through a video game I knew as Skylanders. While considered vastly imperfect by today's standards, I learned that a character represented by a small figure could have personality and life beyond that. That, if placed onto the right pedestal, a special light brings them to life and sucks me into their world right along with them. While I am not a game publisher, character artist, or million-dollar company, I am a writer, creative thinker, and dedicated guy. I want to share the joy from the experience I get every time I am brought to a new world. Whether it be the Skylands or Holeworld, my goal is to bring creative storytelling to life. As far as actual DM and player experience goes, I have taken part in many campaigns at many different tables over the years. I have also put a lot of work into handcrafting many of my own stories and campaign settings, my largest being a fantasy world which multiple campaigns have been run inside. If there's one thing I have learned about D&D though, it is that the players' story is always going to be more interesting than the one the DM comes up with ahead of time. I love trying to plan and play out YOUR stories based on character motivations and backstories, so if that sounds like you, I'd love to have you at my table!

GM Style

As far as my style goes, I quite like combat, but not quite as much as storytelling. While some combat is obvious and necessary, I love narrative styles that can involve everybody at the table rather than the "wait for your turn" grind that some grueling combats may provide. Roleplaying is what turns each encounter into a memorable experience, and whether you find a band of goblins or a shady shopkeeper, I always try to make the most out of the current moment.
