About DungeonMattster
Hello!💚 I have been DM/GMing for about 5 years and have loved it. I have run games for charities and have run games both online and in person. I have most experience with D&D, but am keen to try branching out into Daggerheart soon ❤️🗡️

I became a GM because
I simply LOVE collaborative story-making. No Dungeon Master ever knows exactly where or how the story will turn out. Will the Player Character accept the deal with the devil to save their home? Which NPCs will a party warm to or betray? Who will make a heroic sacrifice at a pivotal moment?
People are always surprised when I tell them
I lived in France and Spain as a kid!
When I'm not running games I'm...
Hanging out with my wife, our dog, and our ferrets!
How DungeonMattster runs games
My style can be eclectic, I love to build an environment for a mixture of intense roleplay and for tactical combat. I usually like to have an idea and a plan for where the adventure is going. BUT, there are few better feelings than having to throw my plans out the windows because players have found a different, more chaotic path to follow, or some strange and unexpected thread to pull on.

I once ran a session...
where the players were sailing to new shores, only to have a young Kraken emerge from the depths as a messenger of their god, set itself up on their ship, asking them riddles and lashing out when taunted or given wrong answers, only to reveal an incredible relic which would help them on their quest.
My games focus on...
drama. The hilarity and terror of the ridiculous. Getting players engaged in the story enough to make bold and exciting choices both in roleplay and the mechanics of the game
Rules are...
there for a reason, but not beyond challenge. The best stories come out of a game where people work within constraints. Characters need to run out of spell slots, face the dilemma of whether to attack an enemy or heal an ally. But, sometimes, doing the most awesome thing can smash through the rules!
DungeonMattster's ideal table
Almost all players will feel welcome at my table, I embrace a mixture of heavy roleplay and tactical problem solving and combat. I am a GM that is a good fit for beginners as I sit in the middle of that divide, happy to shift to whatever suits the party best. You wanna get into heavy character driven roleplay? Hell yeah! You wanna optimise your character to deal crazy damage? Here come some tricky monsters to put you to the test! You wanna support your allies, solve riddles, explore a world, and see where the story takes you? HELL. YEAH.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Heroic fantasy, chasing down the bad guy, following clues, and pushing the big red buttons
I love it when a player
surprises me. Whether through combat or making a character choice I'd never anticipated. As a GM I have a lot of control over the plot, enemies, allies, the world as a whole. So, I loooove the adrenaline rush of having to think on the fly and adapt in the moment to the most unexpected plot twists.
