About Merp

SESSION 0 IS ALWAYS FREE! ONE SHOT ADVENTURES ARE AVAILABLE BY REQUEST I’m a humble he/him Game Master in my late 30's, from West Coast Canada and I love Dungeons & Dragons. Neurodivergent (AuDHD) This game has been a core passion of mine ever since I discovered it during COVID and all I want to do is share it with everyone. What began with a simple curiosity from a friends recommendation about this show called Critical Role, and a rag tag group called Vox Machina quickly grew into a full-blown love for Exandria and DnD as a whole. What really captured me was all the incredible storytelling potential within this world and so ever since then, I’ve immersed myself deeply in the world by watching and rewatching the three campaigns. I've taken to learning the deep lore, the incredible history and most importantly, finding ways to expand on it with stories of my own. My goal as a Game Master is not just to run a game, but to create a space where players feel empowered to explore rich backstories, make meaningful choices, and experience genuine character growth over time. I’ve been running games as a Game Master consistently for about 3 years, running between 3–5 sessions per week for most of that time. I’ve also spent the past year running games professionally through SPG, and I bring that experience and that passion to every table I run. I gravitate strongly toward long-form campaigns, where stories are allowed to breathe and evolve naturally. If you’re looking for a player-driven campaign set in Exandria that respects the lore while letting YOU boldly adding to it and a GM who’s deeply invested in your character’s journey, you’ll feel right at home at my table. I'm proud to accept and love ALL people of ALL types and ALL experiences, I look forward to creating a story with you!

I became a GM because

I love telling stories & building worlds. I enjoy watching players discover the magic of the game through the eyes of their character, or seeing them find a new niche they never thought of. I also started, to give my best friend (a forever GM) a chance to play with his wife. I had to get good enough

My favorite books are

Orson Scott Card - Ender's Game Series Anne McCaffery - Dragonriders of Pern Robert Jordan - Wheel of Time Lincoln Child & Preston Douglas J.R.R Tolkien - LOTR Brandon Sanderson

People are always surprised when I tell them

I've been a GM for 3 years, and only less than a year on SPG. In that time, I've logged over a 150 sessions, including finishing the Call of the Netherdeep and guiding 2 other tables through homebrew stories that went over 50 sessions each. I've also watched every second of the CR actual plays. DnD!

How Merp runs games

I draw heavy inspiration from Matthew Mercer, Matt Colville, Aabria Iyengar and Brennan Lee Mulligan. In particular, their focus on collaborative storytelling, having heavy emotional stakes, and strong player character-driven narratives. Though, while I am not them, I study hard & work daily on becoming the best version of myself and the GM I can be. I take pride in my craft and my stories and I hope you will too. You'll look forward to maps for combats, visuals for monsters, meet NPC's you will want to adopt and enjoy music to enhance the experienc. Oh and we cant forget about all the legends, amazing items and weapons to help you save Exandria. My games are strongly player drive. I have story hooks and threads to follow but ultimately the table gets to dictate the story. I think agency of the players is very important to having the most fun from the sessions. My games and campaigns tend to lean into more story driven role play. And so, I work on giving each NPC you meet a unique experience, including voices/accents and backstories that fit into the world. When there is combat, they will be exciting and challenge you to work with your table to solve the encounters. My goal is to take you into another world each 3-4 sessions, where your characters can really effect change in the world around them, and feel like a badass hero while you do it.

My games focus on...

Roleplay, storytelling & world building. Everything is on the table. That means for better or for worse, your actions will change the world around. The butterfly effect is real within the world and every decision you make, has the chance to change something. You hold the story, and the power with it

When it comes to voices

I do voices where it adds flavor and helps distinguish NPCs, but I never expect or require players to do accents themselves. Sometimes it’s a full voice, sometimes it’s just a change in tone, the goal is clarity and immersion, not performance You’re welcome to roleplay in first or third person

Merp's ideal table

My table is a collaborative, story-first space where everyone is invested in the narrative we’re building together. It’s a place for players who enjoy having real agency, where choices matter, actions have consequences, and the world responds to who your character is and what they do. I’m looking for improv-friendly, “yes, and…” players who enjoy engaging with the story, the setting, and each other. This is a table for players who play for the story and the group, not just for individual spotlight moments, and who are excited to help elevate their fellow players. The general vibe is welcoming, emotionally engaged, and fun. We take the story seriously, but not ourselves. Being able to laugh at yourself, laugh with others, and celebrate both big heroic moments and spectacular failures is part of what makes the table special. If you enjoy character-driven storytelling, collaborative roleplay, and contributing to a living, breathing world, you’ll fit right in here.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

deep roleplay, collaborative storytelling, and watching your character grow over a long-form campaign

I love it when a player

I love it when a player interacts with the world in a way that feels real, thoughtful, or surprising, especially when it uncovers new corners of Exandria that we get to explore together. I encourage you to ad lip and improv with the world around you.

My table is not the place for...

Min/Maxing, or for Combat Heavy enthusiasts. We will definitely have combats but they will be in context of the story and not be trivial. I won't just have a battle for the sake of battle. I strive for thematic fights with stakes that serve the story we are crafting together.
