About Hocine

I started playing tabletop games when I was a teenager and have been running them for more than 15 years now. I started on DnD 3.5 and Call of Cthulhu long ago, but these days I have mainly switched to DnD5/Pathfinder and Cyberpunk Red, while still keeping Cthulhu on the side for Halloween one shots. I am a teacher specialised in inclusive practices and, between the classroom and the table, I've learned to read a room and to accommodate anxious newbies, neurodivergent players, and neurotypical players in the same game without leaving any of them on the sidelines. At the table, what I care about most is to make sure everyone has a place and a spot to shine. I want to include all ranges of experience whether it means slowing down for first-timers or letting min-maxers break encounters. If that sounds like your table too, I'd love to have you at mine. Don't hesitate to send me a message if you have further questions.

I became a GM because

I was very lucky to live in the right environment, to the point that I can't pinpoint a precise moment when the switch happened. I think that I always wanted to create stories and I found in DMing a way to share and live them with other people.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Inclusive, Flexible, Funny.

How Hocine runs games

Production Quality: -Foundry VTT with a large arsenal of modules without bloat -Professionally made maps (bought from their authors) -Attention to the music and soundscape -Good quality camera and microphone -Green screen and camera backgrounds to always stay in the theme Game style: -Role-play heavy -Tactical combat centered around set piece fights -Few random encounters -Adaptable lethality (set at session 0) -Fun before anything else Emotional safety: -Trigger checks (set at session 0 and updated at any time afterward) -Players can veto to stop uncomfortable scenes, no questions asked. Weaknesses: -Bad at accents -Can't understand DnD grappling rules to save my life. What happens when 3 creatures start grappling each other? No one knows. To summarize, at my table you can expect deep narrative mixed with impactful combat supported by high production quality.

My games focus on...

Player-driven stories. What motivates me as a DM is to see how players evolve through the stories, scenes, and situations they find themselves in. I like strong worlds and set-pieces, but not rigid scripts.
