About David

Currently moving, out of the game for 2 weeks be back soon Hi, I'm Dave! I've been playing tabletop RPGs for most of my life and have spent years behind the GM screen crafting unforgettable adventures. While I enjoy a good fantasy epic, my passion lies in atmospheric horror—stories filled with creeping dread, difficult choices, and mysteries that linger long after the session ends. I believe horror works best when everyone at the table feels comfortable exploring it. That's why I make player safety and communication a core part of every game. I use safety tools, check in with players when needed, and work with the group to ensure the horror stays immersive without crossing personal boundaries. The goal is to create unforgettable stories, not uncomfortable experiences. Whether you're brand new to tabletop RPGs or a veteran looking for a deeply immersive experience, my table is open to everyone. I strive to foster an inclusive, respectful environment where players from all backgrounds can explore dark worlds with confidence and have fun doing it. Outside of gaming, I'm a professional musician and the creator of Hangman's Gate RPG, where I stream tabletop games and develop original adventures and settings. Storytelling isn't just a hobby for me—it's what I love to do.

How David runs games

I believe every player character deserves to be the protagonist of their own story. My role as a Game Master isn't to tell *my* story—it's to create a living world where your choices shape what happens next. Actions have consequences, but not always immediate ones. A decision made in the first session may echo throughout an entire campaign, changing allies, uncovering hidden truths, or awakening dangers no one expected. I love weaving player decisions into the fabric of the world so that every victory, sacrifice, and mistake feels meaningful. While my games often explore dark and unsettling themes, they are never stories without hope. Horror is most effective when there's something worth fighting for. Even in humanity's darkest moments, there are opportunities for courage, redemption, and triumph. Most of the adventures I run take place in original scenarios and homebrew settings. Rather than replaying familiar modules, you'll experience mysteries, locations, and characters crafted specifically for the people at the table, making every campaign a unique journey. Mechanics support the story—they don't replace it. Creative thinking, investigation, roleplaying, and difficult decisions are just as valuable as what's written on your character sheet. Whether you're a seasoned veteran or rolling dice for the first time, you'll have meaningful opportunities to influence the story through your actions, not just your statistics.

Rules are...

Rules support the story, not the other way around. They create meaningful successes and failures, but if a rule slows the game or hurts the moment, I'll make a fair ruling and keep the story moving.

David's ideal table

My ideal table is made up of players who enjoy becoming part of a story rather than simply overcoming a challenge. I love players who embrace roleplay, investigate mysteries, make difficult choices, and allow their characters to grow through both victories and failures. You don't need years of experience or a perfect character concept—curiosity, creativity, and a willingness to engage with the world are what matter most. My games are best suited for players who enjoy atmospheric storytelling, meaningful choices, and exploring the darker sides of humanity while still leaving room for hope, humor, and unforgettable moments.

I love it when a player

Makes choices that fit their character rather than trying to game the system for optimum results.
