I became a GM because

While in the military, my friends and I wanted to play these games but had no one to run them so we each picked a different game and took turns running them. Been a wild ride since.

My favorite books are

1. The Fisherman by John Langan 2. the Ritual By Adam Nevill 3. I Am Legend by Richard Matheson bonus Lovecraft stories. 1. The Shadow Over Innsmouth 2. The Statement of Randolph Carter 3. The case of Charles Dexter Ward

When I'm not running games I'm...

being the best Dad I can be, editing video and audio for various social media pages and podcasts, counting the hours till my next nap.

How Justin runs games

I am an avid fan of the Macabre and unsettling, reading, watching, and telling stories that are meant to get under the skin and in your head and linger. I tell dark and unsettling stories that emphasize the nuances and subjective nature or morality and ask the players to make hard choices that linger and have implications for the rest of the game.

Featured Prompts

I deal with rules issues by...

going to the book, and if that cant be done in a timely manner I propose a temp ruling to the table for us all to agree on (players CAN offer an alternative suggestion) and after game Ill find the answer and we can decide which we prefer going forward.

My games focus on...

Challenging the preconceived notions and moralities of the characters though dark stories with many grey areas. You will make tough choices and have to reconcile that with your characters view of the world.

Rules are...

a part of the social contract we all agree to before we sit at the table. House rules can supersede the book but only if disclosed upfront and agreed upon.

Justin's ideal table

My tables are frequented by players of differing sexual identities and preferences, spirituality (paganism), and cultural outlooks. Obviously Tolerance and inclusiveness is massive to me. Players should be able to respect boundaries and identities.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

Penny Dreadful

I love it when a player

leans into the motivations and flaws of their character in the game. maybe doing something narratively interesting they would never do in real life because their character "doesn't believe in the super natural"

My table is not the place for...

Players who just want the power fantasy story and to succeed. You will be challenged and place in deadly situations and be asked to make hard moral choices.
