About Erin

Hi! I'm Erin or Ktulu as you prefer, and I've been playing and running TTRPGs for 28 years. You may know me from my Twitch streams over at StolenFires, GirlsRunTheseWorlds, VorpalTales, and McStabberStudios, where I've entertained hundreds of viewers and raised thousands for charities such as ExtraLife and Love Your Rebellion. I own over 800 TTRPGs at this point and I'm always looking to add more to my collection. I'm good when it comes to GMing narrative heavy and emotional games, so I tend to run a lot of Powered by the Apocalypse and Belonging Outside Belonging and most recently a lot of Carved from Brindlewood. I'm always looking to crack open a new book or PDF and give something new a shot. Some of the best times I've had online involved tabletop gaming and I hope to make your next session the best one yet.

I got started GMing...

A lot longer ago than people would assume based on how young I look. But my first GMing experience was bringing Call of Cthulhu to the table.

My favorite books are

I'm a sucker for horror of course, but I also read a lot of paranormal romance. I tend to focus on supporting indie trans authors in general though.

When I'm not running games I'm...

playing games, reading a book, or watching too much anime.

How Erin runs games

I love roleplay heavy and cinematic games. If crunchy combat is your vibe, I'm probably not the GM for you. If you love to dig in to character backstory and feel feelings, then we're going to have a great time. I deal with rules issues by...

If there's not a clear indication within the rules itself, I always go with the rule of cool.

My games focus on...

Queerness, relationships, and some of that good ol' character trauma. (Within the bounds of safety & consent of course)

When it comes to voices

I tend to use diction rather than accents, just because I'm not super confident in them. Once in awhile I'll slip into one, but it's pretty rare.

Erin's ideal table

I tend to play with mostly queer folx. People that come ready to tell a story together are my preferred players. And the vibe is always a bit mischievous but will vary slightly depending on system.

I think metagaming...

Is perfectly okay as long as it doesn't cross the boundary between character knowledge and player knowledge. As a player, I can know the chest is a mimic, but my character is after that loot so you can bet your ass they are opening the chest.

I think min/maxing...

a perfect valid way to play the game. You want to be good at the stuff you're supposed to do, and still have stuff you're going to suck at.
