About Hina

I am a streaming GM of 8 years who enjoys running games other than Dungeons and Dragons. I currently run 3 different long term campaigns, but love running one shots and short campaigns whenever possible. I love homebrewing settings and building NPCs for different genres of games. From fantasy to modern, from silly to serious, from dramatic to romantic, I adore story telling and building incredible tales and worlds with my players.

I became a GM because

I found I loved crafting worlds and introducing my friends to different systems. I found a love for being a forever GM this way!

People are always surprised when I tell them

Dungeons and Dragons is not my favorite system. I actually love Evil Hat games like Thirsty Sword Lesbians and Apocalypse Keys and I just found a love for Daggerheart!

When I'm not running games I'm...

Streaming video games, art, or playing games with my friends!

How Hina runs games

I primarily enjoy running games that have heavy role-playing while being dramatic, heart-wrenching and story driven where the players impact the world through not only world interactions, but through NPC interactions. Some games I love to run are warm-hearted and incredibly queer stories embracing LGBTQIA+ values, while others can be very silly adventures that are made for giggles and smiles. I also craft fully homebrewed worlds that are built with the help of players and what their characters need to tell the stories they are made for. I tend to shy away from modules, but will run adaptations like She is the Ancient for Curse of Strahd.

I prep by

Listening to game soundtracks or getting myself into the genre with TV shows or Anime. I like creating databases for NPCs, Locations, and other worldbuilding while losing myself in the prepping process.

Rules are...

Guidelines, but should never get in the way of fun. If a rule would take away from a moment, I find myself to be quite flexible!

When it comes to voices

I do shy away from some accents, but I do my best to try and grant a bit of individuality to each of my NPCs. I've been told I'm good at this.

Hina's ideal table

During Session 0, I like to get a good vibe check of the players to understand boundaries and ways to make them feel comfortable. I like the table to feel open, listened to, and generally cozy (and maybe a bit chaotic with some good energy). I love tables where players root for each other (and even root for me a bit!)

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

roleplaying and attractive NPCs (my players told me to add this)

I love it when a player

talks to me about their character and about the story even outside of the game. Seeing content and conversation always inspires me further when it comes to prepping games.

I think min/maxing...

restricts the player in a way that they don't normally consider. It's fun for some tables, but I put more focus into roleplay elements where min/maxing doesn't really help.
