About Wettz
Hello there! Greetings and thank you for checking out my profile! I'm Wettz/Daniel. I'm in my middle twenties and love GM-ing, working together with my players to create something that we can be proud of. I first started playing DnD5e in 2018, I started DMing it in 2019 and from then on I've been playing or DMing in a TTRPG game at least every week. I now mostly use Foundry but if need be I am able to use Owlbear Rodeo as well. I'm eagerly awaiting veteran and new players as I love to teach people about things I like and realize just how much more I need to know. 5e has been my main game ever since then but I have dabbled in Masks; Daggerheart; Savage Worlds and have been diving deeper into Pathfinder 2e! I do my best to learn from my players, accommodate to them and bring the best experience I can. I welcome feedback, negative and positive, so long as they are constructive! I love fantasy and sci-fi, though I have only DM'd fantasy settings so far for longer than a one-shot. My favourites are Lord of the Rings and Star Wars! I hope to sit at the same table as you!

I became a GM because
I mentioned to a university friend that I play and would like to try GMing. He asked a few of his mates, came back to tell me that I have players and can get to making it. Really quickly, made me a bit flustered but it worked out in the end.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Either working or playing games mainly. Right now, I'm interested in Crusader Kings 3, Dynasty Warriors Origins, Rematch, Elden Ring Nightreign. Other than that, I also go to the gym, just started though so still getting used to it.
How Wettz runs games
I love to run combat so I do my best to fit at least one combat encounter into a session, though I do not forget about roleplay. I also love to see a full roleplay session as that adds so much to the campaign! A split would be 60/40 Combat/Roleplay. I feel like I'm a relaxed DM, I embrace Rule of Cool and chaos, I love when players think of something creative and I'll try my hardest to make it work! As much as I want to be good with voices, be ready for a lot of gruff and low voices.

I deal with rules issues by...
trying to look for the ruling first or relying on my players' expertise. If we cannot find it in one or two minutes, I will rule towards/to the benefit of the players and then later research and memorize that ruling.
I once ran a session...
that was entirely based on a cook-off. The players needed to face off against a group of chefs and use their knowledge, spells, anything they had in their arsenal to win!
Rules are...
...meant to be broken. Okay, in all seriousness, rules are meant to be bent. It is good to have rules as they create a foundation and constraints but bending those constraints to create epic and memorable sessions are what I live for.
Wettz's ideal table
My ideal table is where there are no wrong questions, people respect each other's time and presence and where we can have a grand time. In addition, players who like to roll the dice and engage in combat but also sit down by the fire and talk about how homesick they are and how amazing their mother's cooking is. As much fun as it is running combat, I'd grow sick of it quickly if I only did it as is. If there were no stakes, no input by the players, no personalities, all of my combats would be meaningless.

I am for a vibe that's...
light-hearted but serious when the moment calls for it.
I think metagaming...
could ruin games if prevalent. Metagaming is inescapable but so long as no one blurts out what the troll's weaknesses are or how "that's not how it was written in the statblock", I don't mind it. If the player doesn't immediately act on a monster's weakness, they can feel free to in their next turn.
I think min/maxing...
has its place in play but not to the detriment of others. I'm all for players expressing themselves in their characters but if they are stepping on someone's toes or making "better" characters than others and gloating about that, they either calm down or they are not welcome at my tables.
