About GenerousHeal
Hello there! Thank you for taking a moment to learn about me. I am GenerousHeal, otherwise known as Spyro, and I am a Game Designer by trade. I am also a big fan of TTRPGs, with the most experience playing Dungeons & Dragons (5th edition), Pathfinder (both 1st and 2nd edition), Vampire: The Masquerade and Draw Steel! With D&D I have about seven years of experience to draw from, pathfinder about four years, Vampire three and Draw Steel only about a month since its release (released basically a month ago). I also wish to host more Final Fantasy XIV tabletop games, as I've been a big fan of the final fantasy games since childhood. Beyond my tabletop experience alone, I mostly stream my D&D games over on Twitch and YouTube under the RuinousPathsDND account. If you wish to use those sessions to gage if I am a good fit for your gaming tastes, I suggest you have a look! YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC0XCWUoCHxWd9VfsSdrsk-g (recommend checking the Live Streams tab for more recent sessions) Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/ruinouspathsdnd When it comes to campaigns I host, great effort is put to better fit the story of the characters that the players bring to the table. Even when running officially published modules, expect to find your character's background and actions shaping the game as we play. If you are a fan of real-play games, or enjoy a good session of critical role, dimension20, world of io, or perhaps are looking to simply roll some dice and enjoy a good session of play, I'm the GM you are looking for! And of course, don't forget to love each other! See you at the table!

I got started GMing...
for a group of strangers on the internet. I was a player of a bad game and after the DM up and left, I suggested I host instead. Ever since, I've been playing with both the same and new people, and i'd never be able to accept how much I've improved over the years if it wasn't for their feedback.
My favorite system of all Time is
Dungeons & Dragons, 5th edition. I know, I know, I've played PF too and I gotta say, both are good! But I prefer to tinker with D&D 'cause its easier to work with, at least for me. And it's what the majority in my friend group knows better as well.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
attentive, serious and anxious. The latter of which is because I constantly ask after every session the group how they feel about the game and, in their words: "I love it every time", "if I didn't I wouldn't keep coming for play" and "it's what I look forward to every week".
How GenerousHeal runs games
Okay first things first: Action! My proficiency is with high-stakes combat encounters, with them being hand-crafted to allow for depth in action availability and to make each player feel like they are important to the encounter. I also tinker with mechanics, game design background helps of course. The game is adjusted from session to session to better fit the needs of the playgroup and to provide a fun experience to play each time we meet. Second point but personally the most important one: Drama! Roleplaying is great, but I love it when the connections between characters and the world gets stress-tested, when those special moments matter all the more thanks to investment for the characters. Beyond that, I am a fan of high-level play, tend to provide what the playgroup asks and/or wants, and I am fairly laid back if need be- in game, I will adjudicate the rules because I believe they make the play experience better, but bending them to allow for cool things is always on the table. Lastly, I advocate for open communication. Honesty and earnesty matter immensely for play, and bottling things up help nobody.

My games focus on...
the players and their characters, at least when I host for them. Even when I'm running a pre-written adventure, though it may start as standard, over its course I will change things around to better fit the themes and ideas that the players bring with their characters.
Rules are...
a set of useful guidelines for balanced play at the table, that everyone can adhere to. I enforce them more often than not for the sake of game balance, but breaking the rules can sometimes feel very satisfying for making certain moments that much more memorable.
When it comes to voices
my range is not fantastic but I try to give certain individuals their own pitch or accent to make them stand out a bit more. Like if I want an NPC to be remembered, I'll more often than not lean into their character's traits by slowing or speeding up my speech, the volume of my voice or vocabulary.
GenerousHeal's ideal table
Now, an ideal table... Let's start with players! 4-6 people, and they each have a dynamic between one or two other players. Preferably in pairs, but if we are talking six (or god forbid, more than that) players, then between three of them. They can talk in-character about things that connect or clash between them, share opinions and viewpoints, challenge and aid each other during play. When the players are comfortable and want to play with each other, that's the kind of atmosphere I want. As for vibes, I do enjoy drama and high-stakes combat in my games and I love it when people do roleplaying with their characters. For combat, I appreciate a certain level of difficulty where the more combat-happy players get to really sink their teeth on the game mechanics and use what their characters are capable of to beat up enemies. As for roleplay, my favourite moments are the ones where a player really gets in-character and is faced with decisions that challenge who they are and their relationships with other characters. And this brings me to the last thing, I exclude behaviors on the table that are problematic. You know the ones; lone-wolf behaviour, abrassiveness, gaslighting, eagerness to PVP, willingess to harm the characters out of spite or worse, the players in any real way. I can excuse a rude character when the table is okay with it, but if someone comes in thinking they can be a donkey and act like it without reprimand, I am more than happy to show them the door.

I think it's a red flag when players...
use excuses to get to be shitty to other players or me, the host. Having a good time at the detriment of someone else is not excusable in my tables, for paying or no-paying tables.
I think min/maxing...
is fine honestly. If someone comes in with an optimized character, I will provide a game where the character gets to use their optimized toolset. Design encounters for the character to really showcase what they are built for. Its a style of play and I think its cool.
My table is not the place for...
racism, bigotry or any kind of ridiculousness of that sort. Wanna be mean to other people on the internet? So many other places for that- but not during play and not on my table, especially not between players. It's not a matter of being delicate, it's a matter of being respectful.
