About Euan

Greetings, Adventurer! I’m a GM who loves games built around strong characters, meaningful choices, atmosphere, and stories that develop naturally from what the players decide to do. My favourite genres are fantasy, horror, and science fiction, especially settings that feel lived-in, dangerous, and morally complicated. My influences range from Game of Thrones, Baldur’s Gate, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, to True Detective, Alien and Joe Abercrombie. I enjoy balancing roleplay, exploration, investigation and action while giving players plenty of freedom in how they approach problems. Whether you’re exploring a dangerous wilderness, investigating something deeply unsettling, planning a desperate criminal score, or travelling between distant worlds, I want your choices to have real consequences and help shape the direction of the story. I currently run Dungeons & Dragons 5e/5.5e, Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition, Delta Green, Blades in the Dark, and Traveller.

I ran my first game...

I ran my first game with a party hunting down a goblin pirate called Captain Greenbeard. It was chaotic, funny, and immediately made me fall in love with GMing.

I started running games because...

I love creating worlds and situations, then seeing players take them in directions I never expected. That unpredictability and watching their choices shape the story is still my favourite part of GMing.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Collaborative, atmospheric, adaptable.

How Euan runs games

My games blend roleplay, mystery, exploration and combat, with a strong focus on character interaction and meaningful choices. I favour immersive, grounded worlds where players have real freedom in how they approach problems. I generally use Rules as Intended, but I’m happy to make a fair ruling or use the Rule of Cool when it keeps the game moving and fits the tone. In longer campaigns, I like weaving character backstories into the wider story and designing encounters with goals beyond simply defeating every enemy. Whether the game is fantasy, horror or science fiction, I want players to feel that their decisions genuinely shape what happens next.

I prep by

I prep the world, key characters, likely encounters and a few surprises, while leaving enough flexibility for player choices to take the session somewhere unexpected.

My games focus on...

Meaningful choices, strong character moments, mystery, exploration and encounters with more than one solution. I like giving players problems to solve rather than a single path to follow.

Rules are...

Rules are there to support the game, not stop it. I generally follow Rules as Intended, but I’m happy to make a fair ruling or use the Rule of Cool when it fits the moment and keeps things moving.

Euan's ideal table

My table is relaxed, welcoming and collaborative, with a strong focus on everyone getting a chance to contribute. I enjoy players who engage with the story, support each other’s ideas and are happy to share the spotlight. You don’t need to know every rule or be an experienced roleplayer. Curiosity, respect and a willingness to get involved matter far more. I like a table where serious character moments can sit alongside humour, unexpected plans and the occasional spectacularly bad decision. The overall vibe is friendly and immersive: we take the game seriously, but not ourselves.

Featured Prompts

I am for a vibe that's...

Friendly, immersive and collaborative. Serious when the story calls for it, but always with room for humour, creativity and the occasional bit of chaos.

I love it when a player

I love it when a player gets invested in the world, builds on another player’s idea, or comes up with a solution I never saw coming.

My table is not the place for...

Disrespectful behaviour, hogging the spotlight, or making the game less enjoyable for others. I want everyone to feel comfortable contributing, taking risks and having their moment.
