About Entropicana
I'm Shane, better known online as Entropicana. I've been running TTRPG campaigns for 40+ years - not that long in geological terms. My games embrace a wide slew of genres, but my favourites are spy fiction, crime stories, science-fiction and fantasy. I don't shy away from romance, so long as it's tasteful and fits the vibe, and everyone's ok with it. I love politics and intrigue, but only in the story - no OOC drama at the table, thank you kindly. :) I am quite media literate (Read: I read/watch way too much stuff) and will be across most popular movie and series touchstones for my favoured genres.

I became a GM because
I love telling stories, and helping folks make those stories their own. Not to get too philosophical, but I think storytelling is just about the most human thing that human beings can do. It's core to who we are.
I got started GMing...
when I was 7 years old, before I even knew what a roleplaying game was. I would tell interactive stories to my schoolfriends, where THEY are the hero of the story. Then I learned about stuff like Dungeons and Dragons, with dice and maps and character sheets... MIND BLOWN.
People are always surprised when I tell them
that English is not my native, or first, language. I was born in Indonesia, so I grew up speaking Bahasa Indonesia and the local dialects of Balinese. Maybe it's misleading because English is definitely my primary language now but, technically English is my 2nd (or 3rd? 4th?) language. Technically.
How Entropicana runs games
I'm a versatile GM who prefers games with a strong focus on characters and their stories. I love giving each of the stars of the story (that's you!) the necessary time and space to be absolutely iconic. Nothing makes me happier than players surprising me with daring and imaginative schemes and gambits. By all means, derail my campaign! Want to join forces with the archvillain? Want to say screw adventuring, let's start our own tavern? Want to steal the ship and sail away to a distant land? As long as everyone at the table is excited by the direction you're taking it, so am I! Are you new to TTRPGs? Never fear! I am patient with my players and good at explaining things. I have inducted many beginners into the hobby and have run successful games for everyone from kids to seniors. Everyone is welcome at my table, which has always been and always will be LGBT+ friendly. All you need is the ability to play nice with others, and you're okay by me. :)

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
Alan Smithee, probably.
Rules are...
there to help us pretend that there is order amidst the chaos of shared storytelling, but also, games are fun and a game without rules is just tomfoolery.
When it comes to voices
I have a vast repertoire of accents from around the globe, and they are all terrible.
Entropicana's ideal table
I run a respectful and collaborative table. All things are negotiable, just be diplomatic about it. Be polite to your fellow players and your GM. Work together to make an unforgettable experience. Aside from the usual "play nice with others" golden rule, I'm open to whatever ideas you come up with. Be engaged. The more you put into the story, the more you get out of it. Be inventive. The whole point of this hobby as opposed to video gaming is that you can be creative and do anything that the internal reality of the story will allow. Use that!

I love it when a player
does something unexpected that changes the course of the story, yet makes perfect sense for their character and the story overall. I once had a player character literally MARRY the campaign's Big Bad. And it was AWESOME.
I think metagaming...
is a tool that can be used for good or for ill. Use it to make the game more fun for everyone, not just to get advantage for yourself. I can tell the difference. Your fellow players can tell the difference. Don't be that guy.
I think min/maxing...
is glaringly obvious when you do it, and probably not as clever as you think it is. However, if it works fine within the confines of the story and your character, and isn't disrupting other players' fun, we're probably good. Consult me if you're not sure.
