About Emberlee Ash
I've been exploring the world of ttrpgs and role playing games for 8 years. I started out as a clueless bard in traditional D&D 5e, expanded into one shot adventures I would GM with my closest friends, and now find the most joy and creative expression as a GM in Indie rpg world. Some of my favorites are Thirsty Sword Lesbians, Badge Quest, and Teatime Adventures. I love the cooperative storytelling nature of ttrpgs. As a GM I have the most fun when my players are vulnerable, silly, and go against the status quo. When we are all laughing and/or feeling deeply, I see the true magic of these games come alive. My tables are always a safe place for POC, lgbtq+, people who are differently bodied, neurodivergent folks, and folks who are disabled. No one is perfect, but I take this very seriously and do not tolerate breaches of this safety. I have three cats, am a Trekkie, make a lot of art, and hug trees. My games are about building community and creativity through the tabletop experience. I can't wait to game with you!

I became a GM because
I was a writer of fantasy for most of my life. When I started playing ttrps, I was inspired by the world building and cooperative story telling elements. I wanted to foster that energy and creation in my own art and so started writing campaigns and sharing them with my friends.
My favorite books are
I enjoy anything by Becky Chambers or Tamora Pierce. Very different voices, but the themes of found family, strong and complex characters who get messy, and a world building that leaves me breathless pull those two authors to the forefront of my favorites.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Going on hikes in the Redwoods, mudlarking at beaches, or singing songs around a wood fire. I also enjoy crafting and art making, writing poetry and novellas, and going on long bike rides beside the river.
How Emberlee Ash runs games
My games are about character expression. I lean heavily on role playing at my tables and encourage pcs to interact and form relationships of all kinds within group and with NPCs. I love featuring stories that are messy, magical, and embrace the beauty of what the world could be if we let wonder take hold. My games are low on combat and I tend to favor players working out conflict with negotiation and good communication. That does not means it won't come to fisticuffs during game, but that is not the point of my games. I do bring in character voices but it is not my strong suit. In fact, my tables sometimes get a good laugh at my attempts. I do enjoy deep description of characters, settings, and objects in the worlds we visit. I even bring in my own artwork for the games!

I once ran a session...
where my friends were hobbits preparing a feast for their favorite aunt's birthday. During I served them the dishes they were making along the way. Everyone dressed up, the music was delightful, and the mead was flowing.
I prep by
gathering image inspiration, laying out possible NPC and conflict encounters, and making a big mug of coffee.
Rules are...
guides that help new comers learn the games. From that point of understanding you can bend them to your will with a good argument.
Emberlee Ash's ideal table
My tables are silly, flirtatious, and open to big ideas. I bring in depth narration that guides players to new plot points, but am flexible and think on my feet well when characters go off the tracks. I encourage outside the box play, rule of cool, and creative problem solving. I love bringing in elements to the world and NPCs that are inspired by my players' creativity and imagination. A true cooperative experience. Sometimes heavy rp games can be a challenging for newcomers, so I am a gentle guide for players to take moves or make choices that move the roleplay along naturally.
