About Jeremy Cain

Hi there! I'm Jeremy Cain! I started doing Dungeons and Dragons during 2020 in my friend's backyard and fell in love with it. I have ran a few games myself and enjoy making campaigns for my players and telling stories I feel they would enjoy, but also challenge them. Can't let it be that easy!

I became a GM because

I had this love for D&D and wanted to share it with as many as I could. I started a campaign with only 1 veteran player and 5 new players. They all had a wonderful time and I made sure they all felt great when it came to combat and roleplaying. The table should always be available to any players!

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Flexible- while I do printed adventures mostly now, I do love to add my twists and ask what the players want out of the campaign. Patient- I like to let players go at a pace that's comfortable for them, even if I have to wait. Expressive- I like to show my enthusiasm with my players choices.

When I'm not running games I'm...

I'm a Musical Theatre student, graduating with my BFA in MT May 2026. So I work on classes and pieces, but also perform too.

How Jeremy Cain runs games

I love catering to my players. I usually run premade adventures, but if players are wanting something or if I find new elements I want to add, I'll for sure twist the story around and make it so exciting and unique. I'm for sure more of a story teller and want the players to be the center of the campaign. I'm never against them, I want each character to have a journey that makes the player have fun and explore their character.

I prep by

Reading the chapter(s) that the players are in or gonna encounter. Then I use DNDBeyond's Maps and get that ready where all I need to do is press start. I like to have all stat blocks readily available too.

My games focus on...

On the players and their PCs. They are the narrative and push what happens in the campaign. Even if I have a huge encounter planned, if they find a way to avoid it, then that's what the story calls for. I'm more of a guide of the universe, telling and impacting their decisions and actions.

Rules are...

guidelines for multiple possibilities. I am a rule stickler when it comes to how spells and features are worded, but that doesn't mean creativity can't occur. I do like explanations and clear communication from the players on what they're doing and how they're doing it.

Jeremy Cain's ideal table

My table style is very story driven, but I'm also fine asking players what they want. I love roleplaying as it gives the PCs more life and connections to the world. I do love playing with my fellow thespians as some of them really get into the roleplaying and make it fun, but obviously, anyone who loves to roleplay is more than welcomed at my table. I like a fun vibe at the table, where even as the PCs are struggling in combat or not getting what they want because the dice decided to tell a story, the players are laughing and having fun.

I love it when a player

thinks creatively and make a character their own. They can follow the tropes of a class or species, but if they build something unique to them, I love seeing it. I also love it when I see growth in their character and how the character has changed with the player through the campaign.

I think min/maxing...

is alright as long as you accept your min will be incorporated in the story. I understand a PC will be great at one thing, but be wary that even your minimum stat will be targeted because I like to challenge a player and tell a story which does include your flaws.

My table is not the place for...

those who play to "win" D&D. In my mind, there is no winning or losing D&D, only the story being written. I like to see the struggle when a PC is out of their element but they adapt and overcome the obstacle. If you're one that if/when you can't win so easily or you get upset when you lose, move on.
