About DM Lancelot
Greetings & Salutations, my name is Lance and I've been a DM for around 8+ years now. When covid hit, I gained a real passion for bringing my fantasy writing profession into the worlds of D&D 5e with others who were forced to stay home due to being high risk. I enjoy bringing high quality professionalism to all my games, but always put emphasis behind having FUN as a group. I use a Mix of theatre of the Mind + Maps when available for whatever game I am running.

I became a GM because
Being disabled on top of Covid and having dealt with abusive relationships for the past X years really made it hard for me to exist. D&D really brought me back, it gives me a passion to want to share that escape with others and just hear the amazing reactions of folks just having FUN.
I got started GMing...
I used to GM years ago just for silly fun, no real serious Campaigns until covid hit us hard. A lot of people I knew or friends of friends needed an outlet to just forget about how messed up their lives were, so I dove into GMing. It took off, and through trial and error I was able to grow as a GM.
My favorite system of all Time is
It's still going to be 5e for me, a simple system that anyone can pick up and understand in just one short session. No crazy mechanics with a focus on RP that I really enjoy. Though I do want to try other new systems, so I will be hosting games for them in the future as well! <3
How DM Lancelot runs games
I think for my experience as a DM I focus on what the group as a whole see's as fun. I can make an enriching roleplay heavy experience, or a heavy combat one. I follow rule of cool quite hard, if you can make me believe it could possibly happen I'd love to see you try it. I personally enjoy world building, lacing the PC's in rich story telling while they experience combat that can leave them feeling challenged while being immersive. I follow D&D 5e 2014 & 2024 rules, if you wish to run a homebrew I will always give it a look over and try to bring everyone's fantasy's to life. Any theme is fine for me, I'm also willing to learn new games and been looking into CR's Daggerheart system quite a bit as well.

I deal with rules issues by...
Politely telling folks that this is the rule, and they unfortunately need to be followed and this is why. I don't get mad or upset at the table and always try to keep a professional vibe when discussing a rule call.
My games focus on...
The focus on FUN. If we aren't having FUN then I will stop and discuss things, because why else play a game together if we aren't all enjoying ourselves? I do tend to focus on a more futuristic steampunk fantasy at times. Something about machines and magic just makes me happy.
Rules are...
There for balance to keep everyone on the same playing field. I want to make sure everyone is participating in combat, not just one person. I do love the rule of cool too, having folks give idea's that are out of the box and could happen. :3c
DM Lancelot's ideal table
I'd like to think that my table's are very laid back and chill. Welcoming of any player and any preferences. I love to help new players learn the ropes and see how people grow. Session Zero's will always be Free and a Must. So we can ensure everyone at the table is comfortable and happy with what is going on.
