About DMBurrows
Hi I have been playing tabletop games for 15 years or so and been a professional games master for 6 running mostly D&D 5e but also some Delta Green or Call of Cthulhu as well as some one offs in other systems. I have run thousands of hours of online games and also participate in 3 yearly in person D&D events in the UK run out of fantastic venues such as Salisbury medieval hall.

How DMBurrows runs games
My style tries to find a balance between interesting in depth combat and strong role play to connect those to the players through important NPC’s and players backstories. I do like to use maps for combat and non combat encounters to set the scenes strongly. I like to create the maps myself using programmes such as inkarnate so I can really tailor the environments to the stories I want to tell and I am a trained voice actor which I feel lends depth and breadth to my characters and how they interact with my players

Making a quick decision in the moment to the best of my ability and then later reviewing that for future instances, I am also happy to take player advice as well in the moment, it's a collaborative game after all and if they remeber something I don't then I'd be foolish to ignore them!

As a Dungeon Master, my style strikes a balance between immersive roleplay and dynamic, challenging combat. I try to draw players deep into the world, encouraging them to fully inhabit their characters and engage meaningfully with the narrative. Every NPC, location, and quest is crafted to feel alive and reactive, giving players the sense that their choices truly matter. Combat at my table is designed to be strategic, intense, and at times, genuinely dangerous. I enjoy building suspense through encounters that carry real stakes, battles where the tide can turn suddenly and survival is never guaranteed. This tension helps players stay invested and sharp, creating memorable, high-energy moments. However, I also believe strongly in contrast. To prevent things from getting too heavy, I intersperse grim storylines and deadly fights with lighthearted, often comedic encounters. Whether it’s an eccentric goblin merchant or a chaotic tavern brawl, these moments of levity give players space to breathe, laugh, and connect with the world in a different way.
