About DM Si
Welcome! Let me first stand up and say “Hello, my names Si and I love D&D”. There, I’ve said it, that’s half the cure, isn’t it? I started playing D&D in school back in the 80’s with first Basic rules, then Expert, and now, in my 50’s, I run games of 5e for friends family, with my neurodivergent son (inventor of the Flaming Bear Bomb, proud Dad moment) and my worryingly bloodthirsty daughter! Although relatively new to online play I offer a wealth of experience as a player and DM spanning 40 years. RPGs are often described as ‘collaborative story telling’ and I’ve always viewed them as really, really long novels or movies. And as the DM it’s MY job to help YOU tell YOUR story! My games are a mix of roleplaying, combat & exploration with a focus on character development & storytelling. Every story unfolds with the perfect cocktail of humour, drama and suspense! I love fleshing out players backstories and fully integrating them into the adventure and I strive to ensure each player feels heard and has a genuine impact on the unfolding storyline. After an adventure with me you’ll leave with new memories and friends and hopefully return for your next adventure. So, join me and let’s create some stories you’ll be talking about long after the last foe has fallen!

Creating a homebrew world to run campaigns in. Imagine a mix of Arabian nights, Spaghetti westerns & Pirates of the Caribbean! I'm learning the Ukulele! And the rest of my time spent with my lovely family.
How DM Si runs games
At the forefront of my games is you. I cater for beginners and experienced players alike, though my passion is helping new players to learn this fantastic game and I hope they will stay for a campaign or two. I run well prepared games with moments of chaos to keeps players guessing, and combat that encourages creativity (I’ll leave the Flaming Bear Bomb to your imagination)! Every session is designed to challenge you, reward your imagination and bring along a few laughs too. I love putting on an accent for my NPCs and I apologise for any upset or oratory harm this may cause. Remember I am on your side and want to see your character at the centre of an amazing story. Having said that though, I’ll be challenging you all the way! No two games will ever be the same. I follow rules as written where appropriate but bend them if it makes the play flow (again with the Bear Bomb). Your backstory will be fully integrated into the narrative to help every player feel included in the storyline. It’s your adventure after all! I run games using Roll20 and Discord and give the players access to all the relevant source books on both. I use ambient soundtracks tailored to the differing situations of the story. There will be a free Session 0 where we can talk extensively about the game, lines, veils and wishes, and answer any questions in advance of game time. I have a zero tolerance for bigotry and use many safety tools. Respect is at the centre of my table, and you can be assured of a comfortable gaming environment. My door is always open and will answer every message as soon as I can.

My games focus on...
Fun!
Rules are...
One of the great things about D&D is that you're your own boss when it comes to rules. The source books are the rules as written but I've yet to find a game where they haven't tweaked the rules to some extent. As long as they're fair to all and don't break the game.
When it comes to voices
I enjoy putting on voices for NPCs and bad guys but I don't expect any of my players to. If they want to great but no pressure.
DM Si's ideal table
A good mix of people who want to enjoy a great game of D&D. Who want to have fun, don't mind being silly sometimes, but also like a serious bit of drama. People who enjoy the whole gamut of emotions. You don't have to be a fantastic role player but you get a lump at the back of your throat when one of your party falls... dramatically!

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
having fun with friends, scheming up super plans, being surprised and sometimes maybe being a little scared,
I love it when a player
suggests something they want to do that I wasn't expecting. As long as its do-able and doesn't ruin the fun for everyone else. Eg once my son was playing an Arakokra Moon Druid. He killed a manticore by flying 60ft above it and turning into a 600lb Grizzly Bear! Fall damage + mass = squishy squishy!
My table is not the place for...
bigotry, bullying or discrimination
