About DM Hardister

I'm new to DM'ing but I've played with some very experienced and inspiring groups. Ready to take my shot at it. I use Fantasy Grounds and have access to most content. I enjoy playing close to the rules but not too strictly. Lets leave room for some fun and creativity. All reasonable requests are considered. The more effort you make to describe and role play the more lenient I'm likely to be! I love it when players bring their own character to the table as long as they're willing to work at the appropriate level and reasonable inventory. "When the players are having fun, the DM is doing it right." "The DM is always right, even when they're wrong." "Rule of cool trumps rules as written." "The dice giveth, and the dice taketh away."

I'm still new so I'll be exploring my personal style. I anticipate lots of bad but funny voice acting. My heart will be in it! Let's be equal parts silly and serious.

DM Hardister's ideal table

I appreciate a table of players who first and foremost respect each other and allow equal opportunity to shine. I'll lay out the setting/situation and then eagerly let the characters set the tone and pace for how it plays out. I love some descriptive role play but it isn't required.

filled with descriptive role playing that makes me want to pass out advantage and bonuses like candy. The players are going to win in the end so fret less about the luck of the dice and spend a moment telling me how your character does something. I'll award that much more than a nat20!

surprises me with a thoughtful description of their action that I can feed off of and paint a more vivid picture of the adventure.

interrupting others, rude or offensive behavior, rapidly moving through the adventure in the most efficient logical dice rolling min/maxing way possible. Lets allow each other to be creative and show our character's true colors.
