About Diombra
IT professional by day, forever-GM on the weekends. I have been GMing my home table almost weekly since 2016, with an emphasis on player-focused, theater of the mind, sandbox campaigns. I focus on indie RPGs as well as smaller publishers like Free League and EDGE. My absolute favorite RPG is Stonetop, an almost-published indie offshoot of Dungeon World, for which I was a beta GM before/during/after the game's Kickstarter run. At my table, you will find an engaging, player-focused story where your characters are the star and your decisions matter.

Featured Prompts
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
knowledgeable, courteous, and open-minded (I actually asked one of my players for this)
When I'm not running games I'm...
engaging in one of my other hobbies, such as leatherworking, 3D printing, beekeeping, and Freemasonry
How Diombra runs games
Story-heavy, roleplay-medium, combat-light. High-stakes, but generally without complex tactical combat, which is why I prefer to play rules-light, theater of the mind systems that allow the story to shine more than the rules. Because rules exist to enable a story, not to complicate the experience.
Featured Prompts
I deal with rules issues by...
listening to the opinions of my players and giving real consideration to their differing interpretations.
My games focus on...
an engaging, collaborative story where the players' characters are the stars.
Rules are...
meant to provide a common framework for a collaborative story to unfold, but can be set aside when they get in the way. I lean more toward "Rule of Cool" rather than "Rules as Written".
Diombra's ideal table
I prefer to have a table of players who have all gathered for the purpose of having fun with an engaging, collaborative story. My players should be attentive but laid back, giving everyone the grace of patience and understanding.
Featured Prompts
I love it when a player
engages with the world and speaks aloud their ideas and thoughts - I often incorporate your ideas into the story to provide a surprising "You were right!" moment.
I think min/maxing...
a boring abuse of the game system. Let your character develop naturally and organically.
