About Eliam

I've been playing D&D since 2015, dedicating myself to becoming a fervent storyteller. As a DM, I excel at creating a fun, welcoming environment where players of all skill levels feel comfortable affecting and shaping the story. Since its founding in 2024, I've brought that approach to Dungeons & Cabins — a weekend camp in the mountains of Southern California that combines the feeling of summer camp with TTRPGs — running games alongside skilled DMs such as Joey Haeck, Alac Lachman, and Mayanna Berrin. I enjoy running homebrew campaigns centered around roleplay, with one critical question in mind: how do a character's actions and their consequences shape the future of their world?

I became a GM because

I love building a world/story that my players can interact with! Whether it's being enveloped by the narrative or subverting it, the fact that the players have a heavy hand in shaping the story is a truly magical thing for me as a DM, and makes the world I've built all the more real.

My favorite books are

All Systems Red (Martha Wells) Metro 2033 (Dmitry Glukhovsky) Mistborn (Brandon Sanderson) Name of the Wind (Patrick Rothfuss) Old Man's War (John Scalzi) The Cycle of Arawn (Edward W. Robertson) Unruly (David Mitchell)

How Eliam runs games

My games are built around roleplay first — I want every session to feel like collaborative storytelling, where your character's choices carry real weight. Expect to navigate political intrigue, unravel mysteries, and brush up against the supernatural and otherworldly forces, with plenty of room for exploration along the way. Combat happens, but it tends to serve the story rather than drive it. Because I run homebrew campaigns, the world responds to your party specifically — nothing is predetermined, and the consequences of your decisions tend to ripple outward in unexpected directions.

Eliam's ideal table

If you like being goofy, enjoy collaborative storytelling, and have the wherewithal to recognize and appreciate when things get serious, my table is for you! My games allow plenty of room for tomfoolery and fun bits while also leaving space for heavy themes, horror, and emotionally weighty scenes. Regarding combat, my games involve them to advance the plot. However, I rarely use maps; instead, I usually use the theatre of the mind unless there are many components involved. I typically run games set in different historical periods in my homebrew world (in which you, as the players, get to vote on the period/plothook), so there is a lot of room to integrate your character within it! I love collaborating with my players to make their characters feel like they are a part of the world, rather than just placed in it.
