About Dakota

Hello! My name is Dakota and I am a neurdivergent TTRPG enthusiast. If specifics are required, I am on the Autism Spectrum. I have been playing and running TTRPGS for 12 years now, going all the way back to when I was in high school. I wanted to start hosting games primarily because it was a way to get my brother and our friends immersed in a world and escape the everyday life. To be sailing on the seas of adventure or to delve deep into a dungeon. Now I continue to run because I love seeing the creativity of the players shine through starting from character creation, right up until the end of the campaign!

I got started GMing...

when I was in middle school. It started as a way to gather everyone because we were having a hard time finding gamemasters and I figured if there wasn't one, I will become one and It's been quit the adventure ever since.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Adaptable, friendly and patient.

When I'm not running games I'm...

more often than not writing down ideas for stories or spending time with my significant other, gaming or some other thing.

How Dakota runs games

I like to think myself as a mixed GM. I love roleplay and I love combat, letting people's tacticians show and I love putting on voices!

My games focus on...

primarily on the fun and themes of the game presented. With a bit of real life problems that the table agrees tackling together.

Rules are...

there to be a sort of a guideline. Helpful but prone to bending depending on the situation. These games are a wonderful escape and giving the player that heroic moment or a moment where they feel badass is a lot more important

When it comes to voices

I will do voices and also sing if asked to do so.

Dakota's ideal table

My ideal table would be one where people who wouldn't normally feel comfortable could come together, relax after a hard day of work, or just life getting in the way, and be able to just escape for 3 hours at a time, roll some dice, roleplay their hearts out, and battle creatures of many an origin. No discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation as there is more than enough in this world. An ideal safe place to just be yourself while being someone else.

I love it when a player

asks me questions about a particular mechanic, or a part of the world we are exploring together. It gives me an opportunity to relay information, or come up with some information that would better fit the player character

I think min/maxing...

isn't troublesome in a vacuum. There are builds in the games that way we play that out perform others. It becomes an issue if it's not brought up and handled in combat in a particular way. Having to artificially increase the difficulty for that one player.

My table is not the place for...

Any form of hatespeech in regards to race, gender, sexual orientation, one's spiritual belief. Note if part of your denomination has you doing any of these things, then you can fuck off and leave. We are here to have fun. No bullshit.
