About Willow

I started playing Dungeons and Dragons in 2021 and I instantly fell in love with the game and its lore. I quickly grew as a player and eventually a game master, GMing games for several groups both online and irl over the past few years.

My favorite books are

I love fantasy books, especially the Stormlight Archive and other works by Brandon Sanderson. I take a lot of inspiration from him in my games.

How Willow runs games

I run high-fantasy games where the players feel powerful, but not invulnerable. I focus on giving players plenty of opportunities to roleplay, and providing them with encounters (both combat and noncombat) that tie into their backstories and goals. I prepare many encounters in advance, but if the opportunity arises for improvisation I never hesitate to take it. I incorporate the player's actions and roleplay into the encounter plans I already have in order to show them that they are directly affecting the narrative.

Rules are...

Rules are meant to facilitate balanced fun. Whenever RAW or RAI ruins the fun without contributing significantly to the balance of the game, I'll usually run with Rule of Cool instead

I love it when a player

I love when a player gives their character distinct and consistent personality traits, it can go a long way to make not just their character, but the whole party dynamic feel unique and interesting
